A Viewer Writes: ECI

Joe, just saw this on FB. I personally cannot confirm, but it is from a good friend.
Please share: ECI has all the signs of a pending disturbance. MCE only had 15 show up to work, normally 50+. Annex had 10 for yard. Normally 100+. Inmates are checking in a cell @ a time. Please share and tag. This is a Public Post. When, not if, the riot happens, let's not let the politicians and people in charge proclaim ignorance of the situation.

Shit is hitting fan 900 inmates going crazy

Anonymous said...

It's why they're inside and not outside.

What do the officers know?
Have there been problems there?
Inmate issues that haven't been addressed by staff?
People need to remember that alot of these offenders will be released back into our society.

Maybe lighten up on 5 hour kite detector tests and credit reports. You may get more correctional officers working there do all the officers will be safe and do their jobs.

All the convict's have to do is say they are offended and they will be released.

Pray for the Correctional Officers. If this erupts the blame falls totally on the Supervisors and Administrators. I can say this as a retired Correctional Officer SGT. I seen the promotions of incompetent friends they promoted. They could not proficiently perform the duties of a COII and end up as a Supervisor due to these people not knowing policy / procedure / how to deal with inmates but were in the "Good Ole Boy" group. This was done with the blessings of the Administrators. That created severe tension by them being so ignorant. They forced the competent Officers out and all I can say is the Administration asked for it and now they got it.

Pray for the Correctional Officer. The Administration and Supervision were totally wrong for allowing the jail to continue normal activities. These are signs of a disturbance and the Whole jail, east, west and annex, should have been locked down. Then they should have shut off all water and started a complete shakedown if it took until Monday. Then kept on lockdown for all next week or until they got an informer to talk. Amazing no one seen these signs and knew what they met. This ignorance could cost a Correctional Officer, Dietary, Social Worker, Counselor, Medical, Education personnel their lives.

The warden needs to be fired . He does not know how to support the staff. Aw west great job. Is foxwell fishing on his boat as his staff deal with the situation? Not only officers but all stall risk there lives each and everyday.

Housing units 7 and 6 staff rock

as a retired C.O.

Prison disturbances go with the job

It's the nature of that Jungle inside

Most tax payers have no idea all the goodies inmates get

Once they get those goodies
They want more

Anonymous said...

They are good people, and need to be free.

Liberal logic....

Anonymous said...

One of the bad things that will come out of this is nothing will change in procedure and work habits. No discipline action out of ECI or Headquarters. Division of Corrections is a political agency and the Liberal Democrats in Annapolis are just as guilty, since DOC Headquarters runs the prison system in a very liberal manner and never allows change unless it is to make the prisons more liberal jeopardizing the employees and the public.

If they served their time then it's a must to release them. They have to let them go.

great points

So very accurate too

The good ole boys ruined ECI ( which is the 8th largest prison in the nation).

Before I retired after 25 years in DOC ( including Jessup before opening ECI)

Some administration as you say are and were bad persons before getting promoted

EXAMPLES:

ONE BEAT UP A STATE TROOPER IN PEAKYS,and got away with it.

Another was pulling over cars and issuing them ECI ststionary speeding tickets

Another was having sex with his secretary buying her a home with inmate welfare money

Another had a lucrative drug distribution with inmates and kept getting promoted

I cannot write the others....it would take up all of Joe's Blog

But I feel for the nen and women still in uniform there.

Anonymous said...

that's the knuckle head retired trooper in DOC headquarters doing that crap

reason State police are short too

Too many gods with ranks trying to control others

Maybe we could get ISIS to blow the sh1thole up?

That prison was the worst thing to ever happen to the Eastern Shore.

Anonymous said...

No one is supporting the COs down there it is a really bad situation and someone will get hurt with what is going on the past week. It is only a matter of time. Guess who will pay for the lawsuit that will follow? The warden and upper ranks know but do not care. Someone needs to help the staff down there desperately. Someone from the outside needs to step in because they refuse to do anything internally.

Yeah, right (NOT!). Like those hundreds of jobs are a bad thing for us. You do realize that the prison is a giant boost to our local economy, don't you?

There is a major breakdown in the administration at ECI. I will say that there are some professional Correctional Officers there that adhere to policy & procedures, and welcome visitors with a smile at every visit. However, there are some with nasty attitudes, unprofessional and some of the conversations I’ve overheard from officers about the visitors and inmates are a disgrace. If they exhibit that type of attitude then how are they treating the inmate? I know that working with the public is a headache and dealing with all types of attitudes and personalites come with the job. However, if you go by policy & procedures and stick to it then the those coming to visit can respect that because it’s expected and displayed every time. I had an encounter with a officer that was outright disrespectful and unnecessary. Yes I did call and write to complain. My point is if that if that behavior was exhibited to me as a visitor and I was upset, imagine an inmate being treated in that manner. They are already there away from family and are there to serve a sentence. Not be treated as children and continually chastised. So there’s no wonder inmates are upset and fed up with the officers treatment of them. I will commend the medical staff as I’ve had dealings with them and they are great about keeping me informed on my loved ones medical condition. As a state government worker myself, I will say that the “Good Ole Boy” mentally does exist. It exist in all levels of the state and definitely at ECI. There are family members running & working the kitchen staff, inmates have been fired from their kitchen jobs because of afflictions to persons a staff member doesn’t like, inmates have gotten transferred because of issues with staff and nothing is ever done. It’s also not a good look when inmates are being treated as less than the men that they are and ECI Correctional Officers are being charged for smuggling in drugs, etc. They have proven to be no better than those they were charged with the duty of securing. They chose to be a public servant and failed miserably. Being a Correctional Officer is definitely not a job for everyone. Lastly, the conditions the inmates are being housed in have become deplorable and in humane. Yes they are there to serve a sentence, however they have already been convicted and sentenced. Treat them as human beings. ECI is overcrowded and short-staffed. I agree this prison is a ticking time bomb!

Inmates should be called what they are prisoners. It is not a day camp for felons. They walk around with their pants hanging below their asses. They have more dope on the inside then they do on the outside. They have play stations in their cells. WTF people they live better than some who work for a living. You Libtards need to let Wardens run their facilities like a boot camp. They are not at the Hilton for the weekend. I do not know how the C.O.s do it. All the rules and regs protecting rapist and murders. They should be making big rocks into little rocks. Unless medically unfit for work then they should be doing administrative detail. Enough is enough. Put fifty cals in the towers stop sending in food and medicine see how long it takes them to settle down then.

Anonymous said...

They are prisoners and no one disputes that. The problem is being treated humane regardless of the crime one has committed. Not every prisoner incarcerated is a rapist or murder. I work in the judiciary system as well as I have family in prison. If you had a family member in the system maybe your thought process would be different. Inmates are allowed to purchase those play stations and whatever else they chose to purchase from money that is sent to them by their family. So there’s absolutely nothing anyone can do about a family member taking care of there own. Let’s face it we’re not living in the 1800’s. The type of treatment your referring to borders on cruel and unusual punishment. We simply can’t treat people any kind of way. Every one has a right to fair treatment even prisoners. Using the methods your referencing would result in increased violence from prisoners against the correctional staff, and lawsuits. Guess who’s tax dollars are going to towards those lawsuits? Ours! As far as the Correctional Officers go the those their career just as you and I choose ours! To top it off have you been keeping up with all the scandal committed by officers that work there? Those we know of only because they got caught.

Normal threats made by the Cell block bosses. As usual, nothing happened when the reinforcements showed up. The reinforcements didn't even have to enter the facility. My ECI contacts say this is routine behavior, and the response is routine, as well.

Just like spoiled children, when you give them everything they want...try to take it away and there is going to be temper tantrums! It time for the State of Maryland to start treating inmates like inmates and officers like officers instead of the other way around! The State is 100% to blame for any atrocity that befall those officers!

Anonymous said...

Those in glass houses should not throw stones!

Anonymous said...

Have you ever set foot behind the walls of a prison other than to visit your family? The inmates are treated humanely. They are spoiled and childish and some are downright intolerable. I wish I received meals, cable, roof over my head, medical treatment, weight rooms, basketball courts, etc. Paid for off the backs of hard working men and women. Those men get to lay in bed all day if they So choose! Rough life! Why do they get this, because people like you feel they deserve it! No not all of the men incarcerated are rapist, murderers or child molesters, but behind those walls there is impartial treatment! If you can dish it out, you damn well better be able to take it! Who protected the rights or the treatment of their victims??? No one. They have been given MUCH more than they deserve and when staffing issues became a problem, everyone suffered, but you do not see officers acting like children because their free time is being taken away to allow for the issue to be resolved. Extenuating circumstances caused the inmates to lose a little recreation time as a result. They decided to act out and not follow rules because of it just like a spoiled child does when you say no candy before dinner! If you don't know what you are talking about, you probably shouldn't talk!

Good response!!! BTW this comment is from a Sgt who has been in corrections for 14yrs w/a degree in Criminal Justice. Again Perfect response!!

My fiancé is serving time out ECI! They had a disturbance on the east side of the facility! Instead of them shutting down the side where the disturbance happens they shut down both sides. They been locked down for two weeks had no water for a week wafting bag lunches when the suppose to have atleast 2 hot meals a day! My boyfriend is housed in the west part of the facility. They are being made to suffer for something they had no control over. This is ridiculous! If enough people complain maybe they will fix this

Cheri said...

U don’t know what ur talking about! Them officers are crooked probably!! Anywho that jail needs to be shut down and u need to shut up! Don’t throw stones

Cheri said...

Exactly it kills me how people can comment on something they know nothing about!

The situation at eci is so bad, they are still on lockdown. They are treating them like animals
.its over 100 degrees in there and they have no air conditioning.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know when ECI will come off of lockdown?

Anonymous said...

I totally agree. They are paying their debt for their second chance to better themselves .Some who have been on lockdown were completely compliant during this situation and what did they get? ?? Locked down also. You think that will inspire them to remain compliant. I doubt it. But I guess when all hell breaks loose the hundreds of compliant inmates will get the bad press. Stop punishing ALL inmates and reprimand those who deserve it. And keep an eye on the c.o. if the warden can't keep shit straight someone can . Larry Hogan are you interested? If there are 3000 inmates with family members who vote you better do something!!!!

No one seems to care how the inmates are treated or if they are in danger. West side had nothing to do with that and my inmate chooses to stay in his cell to stay away from trouble. He would much rather work. But no jobs available
