SALISBURY – A countywide commission presented recommendations to the Wicomico County Council this week that would increase the salary of elected officials.
On Tuesday, the Wicomico County Compensation and Allowance Commission presented a report to the Wicomico County Council outlining a suggested salary increase for county executive, Wicomico County sheriff and county council positions.
Memo Diriker, chair of the commission, said the commission meets every four years to discuss and recommend potential salary changes for elected positions.
Currently, the county executive position is paid $85,000 a year, the sheriff is paid $95,000 a year, the council president is paid $18,000 a year, the council vice president is paid $17,000 a year and the remaining councilmembers are paid $16,000 a year.

Ride by the Sheriff's Office every day of the week. Guaranteed more times than not his brand new Tahoe will not be there. Lucky if he's there 10 days a month.
Salary should depend on results. No results = no pay!
Evidence? Let's start with speaking engagements around the country so he can show how to profile interdiction stops. Or trips to Columbia to fly over drug fields. Shall I continue?
Why do we pay council members ? Is that really a JOB ? I suspect not at that pay rate. They are there to prosper elsewhere.

Yup, except 10 days is being very generous. You will be lucky to actually find him there 5 days a month. $95,000 for 60-90 days of work a year, and most of that is just schmoozing for the camera. Not a bad gig.
They don't deserve raises. What have they done to warrent any increases in pay. They don't earn what they get now, imo.
They're pathetic if they believe the public is for this. Plus, how are they going to pay for any increases in pay? WE HAVE NO mONEY!
