2017 Distinguished Citizen Award

For over 20 years, the Distinguished Citizen Award has been an annual recognition of those who give freely their time and talents to improve the quality of live on the Mid-Shore. Senator Eckardt received this award on August 15th at The Milestone in Easton. She commented "Scouting is one of the best structured programs we can offer our young people...It is a journey of life."
Maryland Retailers Association
All Star Award

On September 19th, Senator Eckardt was recognized by the Maryland Retailers Association by receiving one of their All Star Awards. This organization consists of thousands of retailers across the state. The President, Cailey Locklair Tolle, finds it "important that Maryland lawmakers are acknowledged for their hard work during and outside of the legislative session."

Legislator of the Year Award

The Legislator of the Year Award was announced during the Annual Business Meeting Awards Presentation at the 114th Annual Convention of the Maryland Nurses Association on October 5th. Senator Eckardt received this yearly award for being the Legislator who has significantly contributed to and has been involved in nursing/health issues in Maryland.
Voices of Maryland Women Listening Tour

Senator Eckardt, along with the Maryland Commission for Women, hosted the Mid and Upper Shore Voices of Maryland Women Listening Tour on October 25th at Chesapeake College. The tour has been traveling across the state to hear from a variety of women about issues they face and to discuss possible solutions. A complete report will be compiled once the tour is completed.
