Roger Waters: Trump voters are not liking his latest Wall

Fans are angered by provocative images of the US president in the Pink Floyd man’s Us + Them tour

At 75 years of age and with 50 years of touring experience behind him, Roger Waters is, for the first time in his stellar musical career, hearing his fans boo him loudly at his shows – with some even walking out in protest.

These displays of dissent are in no way due to fans feeling short-changed by Waters’s current Us + Them tour, or his musicianship, vocal delivery or setlist selection. It’s the political content of the show that is causing problems in certain parts of North America, where Us +Them is currently touring.

The show, named after a Pink Floyd song and very much a greatest hits affair, has been drawing superlative reviews in the US; it travels to Europe next year with a Dublin date in the 3Arena confirmed for June 26th.

During the show, giant images of Donald Trump, which depict the US president with lipstick, breasts and wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood, are beamed up on a giant screen: a selection of the most offensive Donald Trump quotes about, for example, Mexico and women are then screened followed by the words “F**k Trump”.

Unsurprisingly, the walk-outs from the show occurred in those US states that had voted Republican in the presidential election last year. In interviews, Waters has expressed surprise at the negative reaction, saying, “I find it slightly surprising that anybody could have been listening to my songs for 50 years without understanding.”

He went on to advise potential ticket-buyers of the show that if they wanted to go to a music concert devoid of political statements they should “go see Katy Perry or watch the Kardashians instead”.

Another hollywooder that thinks their opinion is more important than anyone elses.

I really don't think Roger Waters is a hollywooder. Trump (and Hillary) for that manner stand against everything Waters has ever stood for. You can here it in his music. People are going to hear his music and see his show, people want to hear is opinion. This really shouldn't be a surprise.

Pink Floyd sings songs about the state of the world with global tyrannical government.
Of course it is depressing.
You get the message.

If you want to go to see a Roger Waters show to begin with, more then likely you would already be aware that they speak out on political subjects all the time. The whole of Pink Floyd's 1977 album 'Animals' is all about politics and Corporate. One of my favorite albums. You should check out the lyrics. 'The Wall' from 1979 - hello? The second part of his show during his concert is pretty much an anti-Trump show especially with the images of our President and Putin and it was nice to hear the boo's from the pro-Trump supporters, but get over it. I dealt with an anti-American scumbag in the White House for the past 8 years, you should be able to get through a 2 hour concert...

Pink Floyd and Roger Waters are pretty much music/rock royalty.

Their music will be relevant and listened to years from now.

This is what they do, this is what they have been doing for their music career.

Don't go to a show where they have been doing this for years, then get all butt hurt about it.

Consider what the song "Us and Them" is about, then consider the current state of the world, how divided we are... and people who encourage and promote this division for their own benefit. OF COURSE our political leaders are included in this.

Use your noggins a little folks.

Lol, as Rogers plays "Us and Them" while shilling for globalists, and encouraging division for his own benefit. The irony.

I don't go to NFL games, comedy clubs, or rock concerts to see or hear anyone's political opinions. There's enough (too much actually) free opinion content on TV that no one needs to pay for it. It's nice to know who to avoid though.
