Type 2 diabetes can be reversed by going on a low calorie diet, new research shows.
Consuming just 600 calories a day for eight weeks can save the lives of millions of sufferers of the preventable condition.
Newcastle University scientists said that excess calories lead to a fatty liver, which causes the liver to produce too much glucose.
The excess fat is then passed to the pancreas, which causes the insulin-producing cells to fail and thus causing diabetes.
Losing less than one gram of fat from the pancreas can re-start insulin production, reversing type 2 diabetes, the researchers found.

After two days on 600 calories I'd be very cranky.
600 calories a day?!!!??? WTF?!?! This would likely only work if you were admitted to a hospital and put under general anesthesia for the time that this diet is take place, then woken up after that allotted time.
I guess cranky is better than diabetes.
A low carb lifestyle will also 'kill' diabetes and heart disease...I'll stick with low carb.
I found I was diabetic, became vegan, cut all sugars, consumed probably 600-1000 calories a day. I've lost 36 lbs and back to normal levels. It really wasn't that hard.
I'd recommend everyone research how bad meat/dairy is for your body.
What's greater than God,
More evil than the Devil,
The rich want it,
The poor have it,
And if you eat it, your will die?
I need to lose 30 pounds but just can't get it together with the stress of my high priced health insurance premiums.

A 600 calorie per day diet is getting pretty close to nothing.
