We have a rule in our house: no one answers a call or text during dinner. Cell phones are not allowed, and the house phone will get answered AFTER dinner. And, most nights, the TV is turned off.
Family is the only thing you have when you have nothing. Cherish every minute you have with them, no matter how mundane it may seem. You have 23 other hours to spend on the other 'unimportant' stuff.
