A soccer star from Gaithersburg won a college scholarship. But ICE plans to deport him.

Foster McCune will play Division I soccer at Georgetown University this fall. Matt and Ben Di Rosa, twins from the District’s Chevy Chase neighborhood, will play for the University of Maryland.

On Monday night, they stood with other members of their elite Bethesda Soccer Club outside Department of Homeland Security headquarters in Northwest Washington, protesting the arrest and pending deportation of a beloved teammate: Lizandro Claros Saravia.

Claros Saravia, 19, who had a scholarship to play college soccer in North Carolina, was detained along with his older brother, Diego, in Baltimore on Friday following one of their regular check-ins with immigration officials.

Am I to believe that because an illegal immigrant can play with a soccer ball he should be permitted to remain in America?

"They were both granted a stay of removal in 2013. But their two subsequent applications for stays were denied. Since 2016, Bourke said, ICE deportation officers have instructed the brothers to purchase tickets for departure. "

they had ample warning

So what. Goodbye. Sick of paying for everyone else's problems, life is tuff, show some backbone fix your own country. All my sympathy is gone no one learns the language, our customs, just come to suck lady liberty's boob.

perhaps the legal American citizen who missed out on the scholarship will be able to get it now. Sounds like justice is served here.

The countries of origin of our illegal guests should have to pay a tax for every illegal that is in our country.

So just go back to El Salvador, apply for a student visa, then make sure you get a degree for a job that will allow you to stay in the US LEGALLY. Problem solved.

Better yet....just play soccer (football) in your home country!!!! WHAT A THOUGHT....if you're illegal you got to go!

Did he or his parents ever apply for citizen ship, have they worked in this country and paid taxes, how long have they lived here those are the questions I think everyone would want to know?

If all the people supporting to keep him here are saying he is such a hard worker and dedicated he should have took those traits and used them to become a legal citizen. He had plenty of time!

Why would we want to know? Evidently they have done nothing to try and stay legally. Why should we all of a sudden feel sorry for them! At what cost are we to say enough! We can not take in all the citizens of other countries and support them with jobs and education without it taking monies and opportunities from our own citizens. You would not take in a stranger and house them, feed them, educate them above your own family would you?

America's illegal leeches must go. Doesn't matter how long they have been here illegally and collecting the benefits.
