Frederick County Sheriff’s Office to investigate fatal shooting by Howard County police
MOUNT AIRY, Md. — One person is dead and another person is custody after an officer-involved shooting in the Mount Airy area Monday, Frederick County's Sheriff's Office said.

Howard County police said officers were called just after noon to the area of Penn Shop Road near Ridge Road, near the Frederick and Carroll County lines.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office said it also sent deputies to the scene and is investigating the fatal shooting involving two Howard County police officers.

Members of the Howard County Police Department's Repeat Offenders Unit were in Frederick County Monday morning for a multi-jurisdictional investigation into a series of ongoing burglaries, officials said.

The officers watched a burglary in progress on Manor Drive in Mount Airy and called the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, police said.
