Jimmy Buffett-inspired ‘Margaritaville’ senior housing is coming to Florida

If you’ve always wanted to retire in a Disneyland for tequila-drinking beach bums, now’s your chance to get in on the ground floor. Inspired by Jimmy Buffett’s 1977 hit about drowning your sorrows with sun, sand, and margaritas, Latitude Margaritaville is a mixed-use senior development currently under construction in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The $1 billion walkable community will have 6,900 homes, 200,000-square-feet of retail, a pool, fitness center, and beach shuttle. On its face, that might not sound much different from the average Florida retirement community, but Latitude Margaritaville will also be “an immersive brand experience” with an outdoor music venue and “signature Margaritaville food and beverage concepts.”

Jimmy Buffett has been my profit for many years. I guess I'll reserve my spot soon.

Doubt that any of you could afford a home there and if you did buy one, you would complain about the monthly fees and the immigrants cutting the grass, cleaning the pools, cooking the food etc.

12:33 you paint a pretty broad brush with your comment, not really knowing the demographics of blog followers or Parrot Heads. Some of us are in the 1% club...just saying.
Just like Jimmy, I fly, I sail and throw caution to the wind...3 swell kids, lots of toys and a lovely wife. 'Come back to Jamaica'

The demographics of wicomico county:

Per capita income for the county was $25,505

The median income for a household in the county was $50,752

Odds are most can't afford it.

The place will do great for 10 years until every Buffet fan is dead. It will be sold and reopen as Coolio's "Gangstas Paradise"
