Ray Kozlowski I had the privilege to go through the immigration process with my wife and step son prior to my return to America from Japan. Guess what. It's not that painful for someone whose never committed a crime. Neither are the update appointments for their green cards.

So having been through the process I feel there is no viable reason for someone to enter the US illegally.
And the illegals are where the problem is. They're already violating our laws by entering the country illegally. Chances are good they'll continue to do so.

Really easy if you are bringing a spouse into the country. Not easy or fast at all if you have no ties. I have a colleague who is a well educated chemist from India. He has been renewing the same visa status for the past 7 years and expects it will be at least another 10 years until he can get his green card due to the huge backlog in his visa category.

For the past 8 years some haven't even been able to obtain a visitor visa to come here. This esp true of gypsies living in Europe to visit family here. The US governments reasoning is they won't leave if they come to the US. Gypsy families with businesses even tried to get work visas for them with no luck. It appears that under the Obama administration they only wanted certain ethnicity and religions here. I know US gypsies swing to the right of center if not out and out conservative. Could this be why?
Also know of a Romanian girl now a citizen who tried to get her widowed mother over for a visit. Visa denied. They said the mother has no ties left in Romania and would maybe stay here.

No disrespect to your friend...but that's as it should be. There are many, many natural born American students that are hard working. well educated and hoping for a chance at medical school, grad school, or other institute of higher learning that are denied college acceptance every year to accommodate those coming into the country of J1 or B1 visas.

I've never seen an Indian or Mexican begging on the streets like all the white & black american druggies. Seen some Mexicans selling flowers roadside but not begging with signs.
