Governor Hogan & Comptroller Peter Franchot Visit Salisbury

While it's usually very nice to have the Governor come and visit the Shore, yesterday was not the kind of visit conservatives like to see.

The Governor has been drilled for more then a year over his support, (or lack thereof) of President Trump. Once again the Governor refused to show any support toward the President every single County on the Eastern Shore overwhelmingly voted for.

You cannot pat yourself on the back for opening a Call Center and talk Economic Development by creating some 25 jobs. Why, because these are government jobs and not a part of the private sector. These jobs come courtesy of the taxpayers.

As for the $1,000,000.00 for Downtown Salisbury, while this is very nice, it's lipstick on a pig. Mayor Day is simply dressing up the Downtown for future low income housing and will clearly relocate out of the current Downtown area. Sure, it works for the time being while he is the temporary Mayor, look ahead 20 years and know well ahead of time that you've been warned of what's to come. Jake is simply padding his political reputation for a higher political career down the road. Graphs, charts and drawings are for children's books and not adult reality. But crime is down, right?

Yesterday's visit was not at all impressive.

It seems as if the Gov doesn't do his legwork, to sit down with Mike Dunn proves that. Also he is still trying to distance himself from Trump, whom the lower shore fully supported. Liberalism was on full display yesterday, what a shame.

Real change will only happen with a man like president Trump, politicians just keep the same old cycle going.

Governor Hogan is under no obligation to provide fuel to the left for the purpose of destroying him or President Trump.

Governor Hogan like President Trump is playing the game by a different set of rules. The left has not figured what those rules are.

In regard to the downtown plaza. Reopen East Main Street to two way traffic.

I've always said he is nothing but a RINO and it was well proven yesterday.

Business mindset will assist our nation getting back on its feet. How long its allowed by the powers that be (not the Prez) time will tell.

Private Industry jobs are grossly needed - but those in power/with the money still remain hesitant with spending money to make money.

Who are the future risk takers? Who will continue to ask the questions about what the future has in store 15, 20, 30 years down the road?

Well whoever you are, come on down cuz you are the next NEEDED contestant on the Price is Right!!!!!!

Crime will stay down until Salisbury starts reporting shootings, stabbings, rapes and murders accurately.

Joe, I agree. Anytime government money is used for revitalizing a community, there is an expectation of quid pro quo: that community will be expected to use funds for "public " purposes. That being said, both franchot and Hogan are conservatives swimming in a liberal swamp. They have to play the game to some degree. But, pushing government housing or low income housing downtown NEVER helps revitalize any areas. Not now, not ever. Just look at Baltimore and other cities where they encourage higher income DINKs and YUPPIES to move in. Federal Hill, Pigtown, Fells Point, etc. Those areas are getting better because of the decrease of the blight. But, just west of MLK Blvd. they are actually demolishing old section 8 housing to redistribute the crime. In those areas, unemployment is so high and has been for generations under democratic mayors. Jobs are not even part of their vocabulary in West Baltimore.

Hogan doesn't support Trump, Hogan doesn't support the 2nd amendment, Hogan appears to dole out money like a democrat. Hogan is certainly better than O'Malley but he needs to be schooled in conservatism.

I've heard that Mike Dunn will be pushed upon up again in a coming election...perhaps people should delve back into his lying and thievery toward the people he represents sooner rather than later since it takes a while for people to understand disastrous past political decisions by self-serving "public servants" who serve no one but themselves.

He's been threatened. If no one else can see the signs I can.

Well for Jake Day I have made numerous attempts to get a phone call returned not even a returned phone call BUT my blond haired blue eyed daughter had been in to talk to him not once but twice!

Was this visit even advertised much. Would've like to attend but only hearing after the fact. Seems like a dog and pony show.

Based on the latest figures that show Salisbury's rental concentration at above 70% of the City's make-up.....we've crossed the tipping point and the city will never comeback. Throwing more money at the "downtown" is a frugal attempt to save face. What we need is a leadership group that could work together and embrace the college and really circle our wagons around their success. Better to run that course than to allow the thugs and blight be the end for it all.

Dunn will be running against Bob Culver and Jake Day will run for Andertons seat. Write that down that's the way it will be.
