(CNSNews.com) - With a unified Republican government, "we have a unique opportunity to deliver results for the American people," House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told a news conference on Tuesday.
He said Republicans look forward to laying out their agenda in the days and weeks ahead.
"To that end, today I am inviting President Trump to address a joint session of Congress on February the 28th. This will be an opportunity for the people and their representatives to hear directly from our new president about his vision and our shared agenda.
Trump will not be giving an official State of the Union address, but his speech will have the same effect. Likewise, President Barack Obama was invited to address a joint session of Congress in February 2009, the month after he first took office.
"This is an ambitious agenda and rightly so," Ryan continued. "For too long, Washington has been too timid about addressing the big challenges facing our country.

Good. It seems as Ryan is warming up to Trump ideas, about time. Rest of the Republicans and Independents need to get on the Trump Train. Or get steamrolled like. The Progressive Democ-rats.
Paul Ryan says Washington has been too timid to address serious issues but he was the biggest chicken there ever was when he would not fight back against obama and the Democrats. He's a POS and he always will be.
Hope the Sergeant-At-Arms has extra staff to remove Democrats who get out of line with their behavior.
