One of the nicest men I know. Son Timmy and my dad were great friends he would stop by and see me and my brothers and bring us stuff from track when he worked for NASCAR. I also had the privilege to date his brother Kevin's daughter and spend time at the track with Mr. Dave when Kevin was working for Mark Martin. They are a wonderful family and true friends. Everyone knew Mr. Dave and talked to him he was so funny to watch talking and joking with people. Shame to see him close up but I'm sure he's ready to settle down. 28 years is a long run for anyone no matter what you do. Best wishes on the future!
I use to love the diner, but, in all honesty the cleanliness of the place inside had gotten really bad in the last 5 years with no improvements at all. Someone will buy it and clean it up and make a nice living if Dave will accept reasonable offers.....If not it will be like others and just rot out of existence.
First of this wasn't destroyed by anyone....and it's not a historic landmark...it's a diner...young people aren't into the diner scene and the older folks are more into the Panera and such places....had this diner been on rt50 this might be a different story.....it's called life and it happens...
This has nothing to do with who is president...it has to do with changing times...and life in general....diners are fading fast replaced by new places and food ideas....this place had a good run but all things end....
Im glad its closing, his rude, racist,stuck-up ass never got any of my business.. Besides Jts Diner (the diner in willards, not the market in pittsville) is ten times cleaner, food is soo much tastier, and that shannon lady is a sweet heart, her and the employees make you feel as if you were sitting at your own kitchen table.
Time to retire. He has to be between 70 and 75 y/o still smokes like a chimney and not a pound overweight. Maybe he can show Trent how to be honest and successful.
Well when you treat every new customer that walks in like a piece of crap because there are a "come here" or not one of the regulars, this is what happens.
I am sad to see this place go.dave is good man . He ran this for 28 yrs has to being something awesome. Gave people jobs for 28 yrs . Thank you Dave white for being good business owner , and yrs ago you were a neighbor . I have enjoyed many scrapple and egg sandwiches when I lived in pittsville . Hot turkey was good too . Good luck in all you do in future .
and yet the government jerks that helped regulate this man out of business still get their checks every Friday -until now! Theres a new Sheriff in town and now these government bastards are going to see how it feels as their useless worthless jobs are eliminated! Thank God for President Trump

Obviously you didn't eat there enough that it financially supported the place to keep it open. Who cares that you ate there? It is not relevant. Why does everyone have to make it about themselves?
This is what happens when a business fails to keep up with the times, and fails to keep up with the competition. His reasons for closing, noted in his last paragraph, are all things that he failed to respond to while running his business over the years. Not serving alcohol (his right) and not taking credit cards in the age where few carry cash anymore, surely contributed to his inability to garner enough sales to stay in business. It is a shame, but was completely foreseeable.
He recognizes the factors that led to his decision to close, but failed to take the actions necessary to stay in business. He blames others, but he was the owner / boss that decided how the business would be run. Maybe someone that wants to run a business in the 21st century will buy the place from him and let him enjoy his retirement.

My thoughts exactly!
Hate to see things like this historic landmark destroyed by bureaucrats, such a shame.
This would not have happened if Trump had been Pres. the last eight years.

It needs to become a restaurant/bar like the Village Inn.
Me and my dad had quite a few dinners there.
The end of a legacy!

FYI the village inn has been for sale as well for several years
I used to live in willards n l used to eat there all the time...sad news to hear

That's why I stopped going. Not clean. Needed update and food wasn't as good.
It needed updating, cleaning and better food
He wants 300k. It will never sell. It's been for sale the last 2 years.
It was George W. Bush's fault. I overheard a black guy leaving Washington D.C. say so Friday.
Maybe it wouldn't of happened if they took credit cards. Maybe.
I agree 11:08. The place has been in need of a good cleaning for many years now. It wasn't kept up.
Yes because they should cater to lazy people.
1:16 was caught stealing and promptly fired very lucky there wasn't jail time.
11:08 and 1:59 .... you mean like the Civic Center?
Using a credit or debit card isn't lazy.
How do you match credit cards with lazy people????...what a moron

300k Hmmmm.I do not think the whole town of Pittsville is worth 300K!
Maybe Trent will buy it and bring it up to date. Would be a nice diner if he would.
Very sad, us girls in high school in 67 68 69 70 went there before school to get chocolate zips..yummy

His money is probably going to lawyers since his daughter has been charged with attempted murder.
His daughter is accused of murder? Elaborate please.
Dave White didn't have any daughters. Dave has 3 sons!
That response was in reference to the comment about Trent buying it.
Well said...Him and his staff discriminated against my neighbor and her daughter many years ago. I'm surprised it stayed open this long.
It has gone down hill .it needs a good cleaning but ther is a couple more places that use to have good food that need a good cleaning
Well when you treat every new customer that walks in like a piece of crap because there are a "come here" or not one of the regulars, this is what happens.
Maybe he got sick off the disgusting way Pittsville runs the town, you know by allowing anyone with the last name of Moore to do whatever they want.
Witw did this have to do with who has been the president for 8 years..can you say idiot!!

Yeah, and this one time...at band camp.,,who cares when and why you went there?!?
No big loss.
Thank God! Glad to see this cholesterol camp go. I asked for gluten free and vegan and all those fat overweight bastards laughed at me.
