An inauguration protest in Washington, D.C., turned confrontational on Friday, as several hundred black-clad protesters broke windows and police responded with pepper spray and a concussive device.
The interim chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, Peter Newsham, said 217 protesters have been arrested, and 6 officers sustained minor injuries.
Newsham, in a late afternoon news conference, said those arrested will be charged with rioting. He added that most of the protestors were peaceful, but that a small group of people seemed intent on creating mayhem.
"They began to destroy property and throw objects at people and through windows. A large percentage of this small group was armed with crowbars and hammers. Vehicles and store fronts were damaged. ... [It] appeared the activities of this small group were organized and intentional," he said.

The most important issue here is that they were charged with rioting. Rioting is a felony and has required jail time. Follow the money back to George Soros and arrest him for inciting.
If there ever was a reason to bring back public flogging...
Black hoodie sales skyrocketed.
DC needs to pass a law like we got here in Virginia, it is against the law to wear a mask !
If your so proud of what you are doing, why do you need to wear a mask? Because you really know what you are doing is wrong, and you don't want to get caught.
Well said 1:15 PM!!
Since they are all dressed in black, appears to me as if they wish they were African American, especially since they are acting the same.
When they hit central booking and put in a jump suit they won't feel so tough. They won't see a commissioner until Monday or Tuesday. Have to post a bond.
