UVA Police Officer Forced to Resign over Saying 'Make America Great Again'

A police officer in the University of Virginia system was forced to resign after students claimed that he used his vehicle’s PA system to shout “Make America Great Again” on the evening of Donald Trump’s surprise victory over Hillary Clinton.

Student protesters demanded the removal of the officer from his post on the grounds that he abused his authority as a university officer. The incident allegedly occurred at 1:50 AM, as the result of the election became more apparent and students had begun to make their way back to their dorm rooms.

“I was disappointed to learn of reports that UPD personnel allegedly used the public address system in their vehicle inappropriately following the results of the election in the early morning hours on Wednesday,” UPD Police Chief Michael Gibson said in a Nov. 10 email response to concerns over the incident.

Another case of idiot college children ruining someone's life for no good reason. UVA used to be a bastion of conservative ideology.

This is a violation of this officer's first amendment rights. Unless there was a policy in place that SPECIFICALLY prohibited this, he should get a good lawyer and sue their socks off. Especially in Terry McAuliff's Virginia.. go after them.

I think it has become absolutely clear, beyond a shadow of doubt, that colleges and universities are no longer institutions of higher learning but have become indoctrination campuses for the liberal agenda which are now run by the student body and not the board of directors!

8:56, we allowed the comment to go up and I was asked to put it up as a comment worthy of a post, I refused. First of all, the person didn't send me an e-mail, just an anonymous comment. You have to take all anonymous comments with a grain of salt. Secondly, with every person carrying a cell phone, (even an Obama phone) they have the ability to take a picture of the alleged flag. That being said, WHERE IS IT?

OK i will get it today.

9:19, That would be great. I always keep my sources anonymous, so no one will know who sent me the picture.

I do not agree with the officer being fired at all, especially since it was not anything offensive that he said. That being said, this is a misconception. The officer is allowed to speak his mind and be free from prosecution of the law, but it does not pertain to his employer. He can be fired for saying something that the University deems detrimental, this is separate from his right as a citizen to be able to say what he pleases. Your first amendment does not apply to the employer only to you as a citizen.

Joe- I believe that UMES thing came from the comment section of the EBT bloggers site. Someone had said they have that flag flying and someone wrote, "and we'll keep flying it too" again there is no proof but it keeps popping up so maybe it is. This UVA officer I would say crossed the line since that microphone should be used for emergencies and not for what he did.

I wonder if the students would have complained if the officer had celebrated if Clinton had won. When I was in college we were learning to become adults and the responsibility's that go with it. Today's liberal crybabies will probably never grow up and will infest the democratic party for years to come.

They took it down.
