Rockville Hooters accused of serving drunk driver gives up license

WASHINGTON — The Hooters in Rockville, Maryland, accused of over-serving aman who struck and killed a police officer says it will surrender its liquor license and close its doors by Nov. 1.

The move comes one week before the restaurant faced a hearing with licensing officials in Montgomery County tied to the incident.

Prosecutors said that Luis Gustavo Reluzco, 47, had spent hours drinking beer and whiskey at the Hooters before he got in his car, and struck and killed Montgomery County police officer Noah Leotta on Dec. 3.

Reluzco pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter in May. His blood alcohol was recorded at .22 — more than twice the legal limit.

OUCH! Bad bartender. Is the bartender also personally liable? .22 is triple drunk.

Inexcusable.

i might be in the minority but i don't think it's the bars fault if someones decides to drink too much. how can one bartender keep tabs on 100's of patrons. how do they know if someone else bought him the drinks?

Illegal immigrant.

It's his fault, not the bar. He decided to drive.

Free Will.
The driver exercised his, and the officer paid a heavy price for it.
He must be held accountable for all of the damage he did.

Why stop there? Why not keep going up the supply chain?
Indict the owner for supplying the bartender.
Indict the delivery guy for giving it to the owner.
Indict the distributor for supplying it to the delivery driver.
Etc., etc., etc. Until you finally get to the farmer that grew the hops for the alcohol.
(Catch my drift?)
