Clock Tower On Court House Struck By Lightning Last night

Unfortunately, last night during the violent storms that rolled through the area, the Clock Tower on the Wicomico County Court House was struck by lightning. As you can see by the photos there was some serious damage that happened and the Clock Tower will have to be removed sooner rather than later. We will keep you posted as this historic item is removed and refurbished.

If this is in Salisbury, mayor day won't care. Just ask how he is screwing Poplar Hill Mansion. He cares nothing about historic sites.

That's really unfortunate. Hopefully they will fix it quickly. Let the "Back to the Future" jokes commence...

Salisbury, Wicomico....Snow Hill, Worcester? I'm serious, I don't know because I don't look at it if I were outside below it.

Yeah right, looks to me like jake day is spending too much money on these historic buildings to me. poplar hill - $60,000!?!?!?!? chipman - $2,500. WHY? What are they doing for us taxpayers???

And why is the county going to take this clock tower off the building? I heard its coming off. Anyone know it htats true??

a) It's not a city building, so it's not any mayor's responsibility
b) It's a county building, so it's the county's responsibility
c) It's now going to be refurbished with some insurance money instead of waiting another two decades for direly needed repairs

I was at the auction today and it said 11:40, so it must still be working! Knocked some slate shingles off it, though!
