I am writing this because of an injustice that occurred in Wicomico County June of 2015. The purpose for this letter is for informative purposes only. As a citizen of the United States of America I feel it is my duty to inform you of this incident.
I was arrested and charged not once but twice with a crime that I did not commit.The Wicomico County Sheriffs Office had the evidence in hand and a peace Order that was denied by the judge and still they came surrounded my house with guns took me out of my house (all on camera) handcuffed me did not ask me if I committed the alleged crime did not read me my rights then proceeded to take me to Wicomico County Detention Center. The officer had me handcuffed in an unmarked small car put me in the front seat and proceeded to EXCEED the speed limit which was 65 on the highway when I asked numerous times to please slow down at least to the speed limit because of the handcuffs behind my back I was just about at the windshield. Cpl Hamilton of WBI was driving and Officer Trp. Elzy was in the backseat. She refused to slow down. 4th and 5th amendment and 14th amendment -civil rights section1 rights in criminal cases deprived of life liberty or property without due process of the law. When we arrived at the Wicomico County Detention Center we sat in front of the gate for approximately ten minutes until Sheriff Mike Lewis pulled up Cpl. Hamilton rolled down my window and Sheriff Lewis pulled up to my side and proceeded to yell Who the hell do you think you are coming in my town talking to my juror If you think you come in my town think again with some other obscenities( we have repeatedly asked to preserve the footage of him at the Detention Center). Once inside I was booked and stripped and had to squat over a nasty dirty mirror in front of a detention employee then had to put on detention clothes.I was put in a cell with a window and an open toilet and male detention Officer had the privilege of walking by UNANNOUNCED AT ANYTIME. I was arrested at 2pm. I did not see the commissioner until 9pm that night I was denied a call to a lawyer they said I had to see the commissioner first. My bail was set at 200,000 dollars violates my eight amendment excessive bail. I was exercising my first amendment right of free speech. When I was asked to leave I left (they have it on video).Without incident. I have a right to ask a juror questions about a trial. In the jail cell the toilet had feces, blood and urine on the toilet and no toilet paper. I made four request for toilet paper at 4am they brought in toilet paper after a made another request and the man said to the woman detention officer “really your not giving the girl toilet paper” and then she brought it at 4am. At approximately 10am I was brought before the bail board and the man told the judge I said the word kill (which is an absolute lie not even in the mans statement did he say I said that word).At the bail hearing they did a Maryland Sentencing Guideline Worksheet it concluded that I should be released on my own recognizance instead he reduced bail to 30,000 dollars without a percent again violation of my rights. Then I had to wait until 4pm that day to be released. I went down to probation for an ankle bracelet I could not go to the beach in the water take a bath go on vacation also was restricted from any cell phone or computer use and had to be in by 9pm and was not allowed to talk about the case to anyone per judge and probation Officers.Once on probation I had to report once a week again take off my pants squat over a mirror in front of random officers and urinate in a cup. I had fines to pay weekly. I had to charge my ankle bracelet for an hour in the morning and an hour at night. I was told I was not charging it for one full hour so they were going to make me charge it for two hours in the morning and two hours at night. For 112 days a total of approximately 284 hours of charging approximately 11 days of charging. I don't know how old you are but I am 52 now 11 days of my life I sat and charged an ankle bracelet.I have never been arrested I have owned a successful childcare facility with my mother for 12 years. I supported my husband and he is retired Air Force and still continues to support MDA and NAVY in defending our country working out of NASA Wallops Flight Facility in a role that has taken him to PMRF WSMR Norway Alaska ect. on projects such as JFTM-4 JS KIRISHIMA 2010 in Kauai he has traveled and worked on over 250 successful missile launches for the United States of America to help protect our Constitution.
I finally found a great lawyer and I chose to go before a judge instead a jury because of what happened in my daughters case. I was acquitted on all charges. because I NEVER BROKE A LAW. My lawyer was going to represent me in a tort claim but he said he “If I represent you I will never win another case in Wicomico County again”. Sad to hear that don't you think Sheriff Mike Lewis went before the media and made outlandish statements about me and my daughters case. He not only lied to the media they embellished the picture of me. Then to add insult to injury Assistant States Attorney Richard Brueckner went before the General Assembly and referenced my case and my daughter with more outrageous lies please I would like you to view the link of him before the assembly. I am a veterans wife and my whole family has served in the military. I would like for someone to please investigate this incident.I happen to handle it with letters and knowledge of it to the senators.I do not want this to happen to someone else here in Wicomico County. It was unfair and unjust.
One purpose for this letter in to inform you and let you know Sheriff Mike Lewis cares about one amendment the 2nd he doesn't care about any other. I heard Sheriff Mike Lewis challenged President Obama to a civil war. Don't you think someone should investigate! He is corrupt and so is Wicomico County States Attorneys and Officers. I will gladly give you my file and my daughters file to review. I hope you can use this as a reference if it ever happens to anyone else.

This is about the complete lack of decency and respect for due process that is increasingly on display by law enforcement.
Police have a difficult job to do but the continued need to denigrate their fellow citizens, just because of their own fears and prejudices is getting out of hand.
Not sure what you read but I don't think anyone said anything about a conspiracy but lets look at some facts Wicomico County arrested her after a judge denied a peace order against her because of no grounds. If a judge denies a peace order can you arrest someone on a second degree assault charge

She can not get a transcript of the grand jury incitement because it was it supposedly was not recorded. How can you indict a person in 2015-2016 without any record of what the assistant states attorney said to the grand jury. This can’t be possible. In her case they just made up a charge that was not in the original statement of the complaint but she is not allowed to have any knowledge of what was said about her. They just wanted to make a law and they used her and her daughter

I really hope that this person brings a case against the department. As long as they can get away with kind of stuff they will continue doing it. I have never been arrested but have witnessed first hand how vulgar and nasty cops can be for no reason at all. They view people that they arrest as animals and treat them that way unless the culprit is wealthy or elected official and then they go out of there way to make it easy on them. They need to be held accountable.

I did sign my name to all my letters to state officals. That is all I can do. I can't get a job now because of my name slandered all over the internet so I am writing and writing and writing to everyone and anyone that will listen to my story. My sister is a published writer and a paralegal she is going to help me with some of my letters.
To answer about Lewis I do not know him or anyone personaly that does. I have always respected the man or any law official for that matter. This is about justice and the Assistant state attorney filing charges against me when they know I did not break any laws. This is not okay. I do have a job now. On June 18th 2015, the District Court of Maryland for Wicomico County issued an arrest warrant for Valerie Rovin in case 5H77936 for the charge of Intimidate/Influence a juror-MISo a violation. The warrant was issued upon the Application of probable cause filed by by Cpl.Matthew Cook of Wicomico County Sheriffs Office. Cpl Cook filed the statement of charges with specific recommendation of the Wicomico County States Attorney Richard Bruckner.The warrant was executed by deputies of the Wicomico County Sheriffs Office at Valerie Rovins residence on Stevens Roadin Worcester County Maryland. That facts sworn in the statement of probable cause were false. The statement of probable cause did not establish probable cause for a violation of CR 9-305 or any Maryland criminal law.Valerie Rovin was arrested and held against her will in the custody of the Wicomico County detention Center from June 18-19 2015. Sheriff Mike Lewis made false and inflammatory statements the press about Mrs Rovins case. The Wicomico County States Attorney Office proceeded to prosecute Mrs. Rovin for this charge. On July 9th 2015 the states attorney filed a criminal information in the wicomico county circuit court in case 22K15000412 charging Valerie Rovin with Assault second degree and Intimidate/influence Juror based on the same circumstances. The court issued a summons for Mrs. Rovin. These charges were not supported by probable cause. The States Attorneys Office maliciously disparaged Mrs. Rovin's character harmed her reputation in the community, caused her mental distress and denied her liberty without due process to the law and in violation of the United States Bill of Rights and the Maryland Declaration of rights. A judge aquitted Valerie Rovin of both charges in K15000412 on October 7,2015

@9:33 yes you can be denied a peace order, and yes you can still have assault charges against you. A peace order is designed to keep a person away from another. The person asking for the peace order would have need a reason to ask for it. If said second degree assault happened before said protection order was filed for - then YES you can still be arrested for Assault, even if a peace order is denied.

It seems like someone is interested in this story or me. I have realized quite a few people have a big problem with me in Wicomico County. Some things are beginning to make a lot of sense after reading these posts. I have sat and prayed and prayed for many years for answers about things that just didn’t make sense. I tried very hard to be a good parent over the years and things just seemed to keep happening. I don’t know who you are or why. I have reached out to people in the community without any response. I just want you to know hindsight is 20/20. I have spent the last 30 years trying my best to just raise good children. My children and I am not perfect. GOD did not make us that way. I must remind you of something do not ever judge a person until you have walked in their shoes. I had to remind myself and my children many times to just take a moment do not react but take a moment and think about the other person. What has that other person been through that day or in their life. Can we look at people without judging and just try to have compassion first before we try to label or judge? We as humans would be a lot better off.
When I read some post and get frustrated I realize that some people just don’t like my family or me. I want to react but when I sit quietly for a moment I remember GOD is in control not me.
My mother has always said there is a reason for everything you may not see it now but you will. It turns out that my daughter has found her calling in life she loves helping people she heard many horrific stories from people that she met throughout her ordeal. My other daughter would love to save every animal on the planet.
I was having the hardest time trying to see something positive about my situation but I woke up Sunday morning and GOD reminded me he wants my voice heard. You don’t have to listen but WHAT I HAVE TO SAY TODAY IS:

Yeah, when this happens to a good ole 50 something white lady who can hardly put together a sentence, the conservatives freak out and rally to her a defense. Funny I don't see any of you doing anything about the fact that this happens on a daily basis for communities of color.
Fact of the matter is, this woman disrespected the system by talking to a juror when the juror didn't want to talk to her. She just couldn't accept she was a crap mother and raised a drunk ass child.

The fact is I didn't disrespect any system that I was aware of. The judge said he was free to go and talk about the case. He invited me in to his office. If he did not want to talk to me he would have just asked me to leave. If you would like to discuss the facts fine but keep your opinions to yourself. If you personally know us please tell me who you are.
Sounds like you may get some satisfaction out of a 50 year old white lady unjustly being thrown in jail. Truth is ANYONE unjustly thrown in jail is not okay. People of all different races sexes and religions have fought for our country and we all deserve liberty and justice for all.
