Shelter dogs are mostly mutts (mixed breeds), not that they don't make great pets, but you have to go to a breeder to get pedigreed dogs. The breeders are where the money dogs are found. There is a market for the dogs, and the pet stores are just meeting the demand for pedigreed dogs. I see someone's problem with that, but I don't see a solution, except for her to just adopt whatever is available. That would be HER statement. If I want a pedigreed dog, I will go to a breeder, or a pet store.
I got my dog from private breeders. Great bloodline. The female was their well cared for pet and the male was their sons dog. They would only have one or two litters of puppies at any given time. Very happy and I have a GREAT dog.

I'm not OK with that either.
If everyone spays and neuters their pets like they are told to do, then just where is someone supposed to get a pet?
