A Viewer Writes: Subject: Raw Spirit Publications Scam

Hi Joe,

My mom lives in Nithsdale and was telling me about a man who approached her while she was cutting grass to sell magazine subscriptions. He said he was affiliated with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, selling these subscriptions to raise money for at-risk youth. The sales sheet showed other Nithsdale residents had participated, so she thought it was legitimate. When she told me the subscription was for $109 for two years, I knew it was probably a scam. The Sheriff’s office has no knowledge of this company or program. Could you warn others in the area about this man and company?

Raw Spirit Publications
Gregory Riddick, Sr.

They seem to function all around the country, changing names and locations often. The complaints show that the magazines ordered never arrive. Checks are made out to Gregory Riddick, Sr. personally, not to the company Raw Spirit Publications.

Thanks!

I suggest stop payment on check or credit card. It seems to be the same scam as the college kids trying to raise money for tuition. The last time a magazine seller came to my door I not do politely said this it was BS and scam and do not come to my door. I do not think any police department does these types of fundraisers.

I think it's a very bad idea to buy anything (especially home improvement stuff) from somebody who comes to your door or calls you on the phone.
How many of those offers are rip-offs? Probably most of them.
If you need or want something, go buy it from somebody you know.. a reputable seller that you can find if there's a problem.

Also if you get a call from 360-386-7361 stating that IRS is filing a law suit. This is a scam

Maybe they don't have the money to buy it or can't or don't read?

Don't fall victim to the guy going around black topping your road because he "has materials left over and needs to give a really good deal to get rid of it." Total scam always!!!
