GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A former Grand Valley State University student says he was pummeled by undercover officers who mistook him for a fugitive, then prosecuted for scuffling with the plainclothes officers he thought were mugging him, according to a federal lawsuit filed Monday.
The FBI and Grand Rapids police beat, falsely arrested and maliciously prosecuted 23-year-old James King, according to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids.
The lawsuit contains images of injuries King suffered during his July 2014 arrest. Attorneys with Miller Johnson, which is representing King, also have cell phone videos of the confrontation taken by passersby and dash-cam video taken by marked Grand Rapids police cruisers responding to the Friday afternoon disturbance on Leonard Street NW.
It all comes down to a case of mistaken identity that got way out of hand, King’s attorney, Patrick M. Jaicomo said Tuesday.

I have to wonder what punishment was given to the officers. Funny how when they are wrong the person still gets changed with something!

yeah like resisting arrest when the cops had no good cause to arrest in the first place.
What's the big deal? This is a practice of law enforcement that has been ongoing since there was the first arrest.
