Voter fraud and implementation costs were among the concerns that Republicans raised Thursday about a bill that would make Maryland the third state to automatically register eligible residents to vote.
Del. Eric G. Luedtke (D-Montgomery), who sponsored the legislation, testified before the House Ways and Means Committee that his proposal would make the registration processmore secure and convenient, while encouraging more residents to vote. He emphasized that residents would be given a chance to opt out before they are enrolled, addressing concerns from critics who say people shouldn’t be forced to register.
“Regardless of party, we can all agree that our democracy is premised on the idea that the citizens will have an opportunity to make their wishes known at the ballot box,” Luedtke said.

Eligible is the buzz word.
This should not be done thru MVA or college enrollment because moron ignorant liberal Democrats passed a law in Maryland that illegals can get drivers licenses and in-stats tuition.
It's an attempt to prevent another Hogan from being elected by causing more of the ignorant and illegal to vote Democrat.
If you register for EBT, first step is register to vote.
If you renew your Driver's License, register to vote is part of paperwork.
Etc.
It is just designed to get names on the voter rolls which can then be manipulated via bogus absentee votes, or bogus early voting.
If you're interested in voting, registration should be easy, and subject to verification of your eligibility to register (of age, citizen & non-felon) rather than being shoved down your throat every time you bump into someone on the public payroll.
Felons are eligible to vote in MD. Law goes into effect this week.
Everyone who is registering to vote should have to prove they are eligible to vote. If you can't prove it you don't vote PERIOD. To hell with all the stupid democrats who want to rig every election they are nothing but a bunch of damn crooks and have the worst crook of them all running for president the Hildabeast.
