We Thought We'd Also Ask Your Opinion

We had been told that the Wicomico County Logo had been created many years ago by a student using a crayon. While some Idiots may say the logo is racist, we just feel it is unprofessional and does not depict the beauty of the County itself.

That being said, we went ahead and created our own and wanted to see what YOU think of it. We would also encourage any one of you to create your own ideas and or put those ideas in comments and we'll try to recreate them for a future Post.

the first does not bother me at all. I like it and understand why it was
Wicomico's logo for a very long time.

But as time passes and things change I really like the second logo and feel it represents Wicomico in a new kind of way.

I like the New Logo.

11:07, Jim Ireton is FROM HERE and he rebranded Da 'Bury. Jake Day stepped in and immediately rebreanded Salisbury and he too is FROM HERE.

Just because we created a new and fresh idea doesn't mean we're trying to recreate the wheel and I am certainly NOT in any position in which I can make any changes anyway.

By the way, the whole country had American Indians occupying it well before your ancestors, so lighten up.

The county isn't all rural, suggest to include a couple urban pics, i.e. SU or airport

Replace that goose with a chicken, and that vineyard with a corn field, and voila!!

From a graphic designer: I like your idea, but the image is too busy. Consider all the ways it will be used in a relatively small size -- on buildings, trucks, stationery, etc -- and then think about how many times you see logos of that size using photos. There's a reason most logos don't use photos. But an updated logo is a great idea!

I like that it seems aligned to the new Salisbury logo.

I prefer the original logo.

Of course, we can waste time and taxpayer money by changing signs, and all that is just a distraction from the ACTUAL problems.

The logo is ok as it is, leave it be.

Definitely need to rebrand to a more representative logo. Great that you took the initiative to get the conversation started.

Does need updating. You are on the right track but just not there yet .

Removing the Indian removes the significance of the name. This seems like a play to either be Politically Correct or to sweep the Indians under the rug.

Does not need updating. Why a crab??? Leave the watermens in Somerset County and Worcester Co. We don't need that on there

I think the picture of floaters in the Wicomico River sums it up nicely!!!!

The Native American deplicted does have historical significance.
"The County was named after the Wicomico River from the Indian words "wicko" and "mekee" meaning a place where houses are built, apparently referring to an Indian town on the river banks."

I could see redoing the seal but would like to see the Native American remain. For authenticity sake, there should be a chicken on the logo, after all it's been said ad nauseum how the local economy would collapse if not for chickens. A corn or soy bean field would work and something representing Salisbury the county seat, the government office building or courthouse maybe? I agree w/above instead of photographs use an artist's renditions of the representations.

The logo has to be something simple, striking and historically representative. The old seal could use some updating to make it much more appealing, but let's not go with trying to make it a marketing or "branding" tool by trying to create 21st Century relevance with 21st Century graphics. Do that and it'll look just as dated as 1970's architecture. Work with what you have.

I think the new logo should include something like a Heroin Needle and maybe and EBT card.

I like number 2, looks more updated.

If it ain't broke don't fix it! New logo means everything from dump trucks to stationery to jackets needs to be updated. Cha ching!

I agree with 239, but should also have a picture of our section 8 housing, carp floating in the wicomoco, and the latest robbery victim.

Keep our existing if these are the choices. The Wicomico's were the Indian residents of this area, period. Honor them, for they were the first Redskins, and have a football team named in their honor as well.

Revisionism is a byproduct an overbloated public sector and their contempt for anythung they think they do not control...

Old one is clear and provides a clear link to the name.

New sample is a messy mish-mosh; looks like a committee effort.

WOW. Can't believe this is an issue in the county. The second logo would be very expensive to reproduce with the graphics and colors and it is too busy to put on anything. I say we should stay with the current logo and honor our heritage.

I like them both but would not be offended with the new, very nicely done.

I like the old one. The new one is a nice idea, but i still like the simplicity and even the crayon of the existing.
