Driver Finally Named In Hitting Two Worcester County Road Crew Employees
The Driver of the vehicle that struck the Worcester County workers was identified as Marion Marine Jones Jr, 59 years of age from Stockton, Md.

He was already charged twice in the past with DRIVER FAILURE TO OBEY PROPERLY PLACED TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE INSTRUCTIONS! Now he has killed someone! Does he just get a slap on the wrist for this as well?
Hopefully not 1:37. Make an example out of him. We spend a ton of money on programs designed to make highway and road workers safe to no avail. Make an example of him and throw his sorry ass in prison for as long as possible. Then make a focus of the program the lengthy sentence this jerk received.

This is awful, these two men were not even in the roadway when they were struck. They were standing in a driveway. This driver has no concern for his surroundings, only worried about getting where he wants to go in a hurry.
It was an accident. Could it have been avoided? Yes. But, it's still an accident. Wanting to give this guy life for this is childish and irresponsible.
Hopefully the charge is vehicular homicide, after the investigation is concluded.
This is how my brother was killed in 1980 at the ripe old age of 20. The driver coming the other way hit him head on, disregarding the flagman. He died instantly when his jeep bursts into flames. We couldn't have an open casket for obvious reasons. The driver that hit him survived. Rest in peace, private David Wayne Metz. Corny I know but I hardly knew you.

He needs to be made an example of, now the victim has a widow and children. This could have been avoidable. Like the other comment said, governments spend tons of money to keep workers safe then you have an idiot like this that takes an innocent life.
Wanton disregard for human life deserves vehicular homicide charges, not involuntary manslaughter. Vehicular homicide is often the charge when a drunk driver kills someone.
Hopefully, Mr. Jones has a lot of assets and insurance for the victims and their families to recover,
not saying either of these men were doing this but how many times have we seen highway workers placing themselves in harms way? I have had to make extra steps to not hit one of these jerks not paying attention to what they were doing, walking too close to traffic flow, horseplay, even running their equipment into the way of traffic.

I'd just sit tight and wait for the Accident Reconstruction to be completed which take some time to complete. There are more serious charges than Involuntary Manslaughter that could be levied. The Reconstruction Investigators will have all their I's dotted and T's crossed when the case is presented to the States Attorney at which time the charges will be placed.

My son is a surveyor and many times it requires him to be in the street. He places those orange cones out. Several times he will find someone running each and everyone of them down. Ignorant people. If they can't see get off the streets.
Yes, you can call it an accident, but what were the circumstances? Was the driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol? That makes a huge difference.

I've known the driver for over 10 years. He does not drink. He does not do drugs. A health issue made his vision blurry. He was less than half a mile from home. He didn't see the dump truck until the very last second. He swerved to the right to avoid possible oncoming traffic, not realizing the workers were standing there. My heart goes out to the families of the workers, but at the same time, my friend has to deal with the fact that he mistakenly took someone's life. Please, let's not condemn someone without knowing the whole story.
You obviously didn't know him very well then...first off, his driving record speaks a different story of him and his respect for the rules of the road!! second, if his vision was blurry at all and he apparently knew that WHY is he driving? he was a mile from home and having said that he should of just slowed down!! if he couldn't see that dump truck he had no business on the road..unfortunately for him he should feel bad for taking a father from his wife and kids FOREVER and changing forever the course of the other young man's life..he deserves what he gets, he ask for it getting behind the wheel when he had health problems!!! Your excuse for him 3:28 is outrageous you should be ashamed of yourself for writing it...you see he has no defense to this unspeakable crime and make no mistake its a crime and he should be charged as such!!
