Bridgeville, DE - The Delaware State Police is investigating an incident in which gunshots were fired at a car east of Bridgeville.
The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. Sunday February 7, 2016 as a 51-year old female was operating her vehicle northbound on Coverdale Road just south of Seashore Highway (SR404/SR18) when a car began tailgating her. As the female continued across SR404 and onto Chaplins Chapel Road, the dark colored car continued to follow at a close distance behind her vehicle. The victim then made a left turn onto Apple Tree Road when the unknown type make and model car began to pass her on the left. As the car was passing her, two gunshots were heard coming from the passing car and the victim could feel the bullets striking her vehicle. The female victim then drove into a field in order to get away from the suspects when two more gunshots were fired at her car and then two more when she made a U-turn to drive in the opposite direction.
The female, along with her 56-year-old husband and 6-year-old daughter were uninjured in the incident and were able to drive to Troop 5 where they reported the incident. The victim's vehicle sustained two bullet holes on the driver's side. No other description was given for the suspect's vehicle except for a dark colored car.
