The skyscrapers of Pittsville will soon be safe!

They do not need that large piece of equipment in the Pittsville area.
The people on the board have always been spend, spend, spend. They are a bunch of greedy individuals that feel they must spend all the county allots them and more. They are just now getting the Firehouse repaired after one of them hit the firehouse with a piece of equipment. No one knows how to take care of anything down here. The best thing has ever happened is there is now an ambulance available to the area.

Remember that the PVFC serves not only Pottsville, but everywhere in the regional mutual aid area. Some of those places have buildings and commercial structures higher than 20 feet.

Anonymous said...

They got a nice ladder truck from Salisbury Fire Department and that was sufficient for anything they needed here. Mutual aide area????
How about Willards, Parsonsburg, Gumboro. They all have very good equipment and it is well taken care of.

Good job Pittsville Fire! You work hard to purchase these things that protect your town and its people. If one day it saves one life than its worth every dime spent. The last truck saved a life or three! Don't regard the hater troll above. The community loves you and thanks you for all you do! This is every Fire company out there. These fools know not the sacrifices you members make.

You are so sweet. Those mean ole' hater trolls

Willards, Parsonsberg and Gumboro do not have ladder trucks. Their ladder truck is 40 years old. Most jurisdiction's remove equipment after 20-25 years of service.

Anonymous said...

They didn't even need the ladder truck that they got from Salisbury a while back.

This proves that the volunteer fire companies are getting to much money from the County Executive and the County Council. Every year they go to the County and beg for more money or they will not survive. This is proof that they all are full of Sh!t. Every fire engine has a set of ladders on it that will cover any fire call they have in Pittsville. If a ladder truck is needed anywhere in the county they can put Salisbury on the Box since they are more centralized and they have 4 ladder trucks that are not needed and never used as ladder trucks.

What a waste. Bob Culver are you paying attention!!

Pittsville and every other volunteer fire company deserve support not criticism for trying to better their Department...Good job Pittsville and all the other Volunteer Departments!!! Some of us are smart enough to know that we need you!

And they steal the monies generating from ambulance billing to pay for their fancy fire equipment and fire station. The County should quit paying for the ambulances since the fire departments are billing patients and keeping the money. Maybe the County should do the billing and keep the money and put it back in the general fund!!

Oooh.. What about the 35 foot ladders they have on every fire truck! And buy the way when was the last time there was a fire in any of those 20 foot buildings?

And really!! When was the last time they had a fire period!!

You must be a voluntir Farmin! Are you from Pittsville.

So how many did the last truck save 1 or 3?? You don't even know so get out of here with this crap. Fire departments don't save lives anyway you moron, they put out fires.

What happened to throwing ground ladders to the windows like real firefighters are taught. What about the ground ladders that every fire truck carries.

How many actual fires was that "Salisbury" ladder truck used for in Pittsville where it was really needed?

Anonymous said...

They better hide it from Denver! He may try to sell it for a few bucks.

Anonymous said...

Here is a question that desperately needs an answer.

Since Pittsville Volunteer Fire Company is in the Pittsville town limits and covers most of their calls in Pittsville town limits how much money does the Town of Pittsville give the volunteer fire companies???? Why is it the Responsibility of the County to fund these fire departments!!!

Anonymous said...

This one can take down the entire building if they forget to put the hatch down on it like they did the other fire truck!

It might be where they got some of the money shhhhh

Concerned Retiree said...

4:43 you must be with SFD. If there was a way to legitimize keeping the money from Volunteers and put it in the General fund SFD would manage a way to get their sticky hands on it since it would have already been designated for Volunteer Fire Companies. Then they would waste that money on their play toys. At least you see the Volunteer Companies have fund raisers to raise money for their toys and not expect the Tax Payers to pay for every thing especially toys they don't need like SFD.

If they were working hard to serve the people they wouldn't have to call for a driver for the ambulance over and over again. If it is a fire call you have every Tom Dick and Harry at the fire house in seconds. The same is not true when it is for an ambulance call. I don't know who the chief is but they need to do a better job getting a driver to the station.

Prove it!

Those fire engines that are replaced every 20-25 years are engines that respond to numerous calls daily. No one in Pittsville runs that many calls. Their first line fire engine would be sufficient if it was built in 1940.

You make some good points. The Salisbury Fire Department and it's leadership is a joke!

Anonymous said...

Pittsville needs a ladder truck as much as salisbury needs volunteers. Both are a waste of time and resources.

Anonymous said...

I do support all the local Fire Departments...I believe too that the County funds should rightly support the small town departments as well...the towns are in the damn county idiot! You can't change what these Volunteer Fire Departments do...soooo sit here and just complain, BABY!

58k a yr. Such a lot of money. How much are the police departments around here getting from grants money

Anonymous said...

It's saved 3! And I can name three fires right now in the last 4 years it was needed. Ventilation is key to fire fighting and alot if these old houses can't take a crews load after exposed to fire. If you were as smart as the mouth you flap then you'd know this.

Anonymous said...

Zero. A fire company is operated as a private business.

Anonymous said...

Knapp, Farlow, and Whited all 3 fire company members were on the town commission-Knapp has since resigned. Has the spot been filled--bet Denver will put another fire person in there or another person that wont stand up to him.
nothing has been done and it is all hush hush hush on the reimbursement. Word is the town is going to accept the farm out on Whitesville Rd from him as payment. What the heck does the town need with that property.
They already own the lions club, empty lot next to old Pittsville Market and the grey house next to town hall ALL for no reason.
They spent a bunch of money on the old warehouse when they could have simply built a new pole building and saved money.
Denver does what he wants.

You've got that wrong Paid Man. Pittsville needs a ladder truck as much as Salisbury needs paid firemen. It was the paid man that bought the $1 Million fire boat in Salisbury. It was the Paid Man who bought the $14 million fire station in the ghetto on Cypress Street. It was the Paid Man who Bought the $6 Million fire station on Naylor Street. It was the Paid Main who bought the $1 Million ladder truck in Salisbury. It was the Paid Man who paid for the new paint job on 3 fire trucks that were only 2 years old. It was the paid man who bought the $1.5 Million Haz Mat truck. Need I go on! It was the Paid Man that is trying to run all the volunteers away in Salisbury.

You see all of Salisbury's problems are the paid firemen and not the volunteers.

Name the 3 moron. And I know more about construction than you do. These Old Houses you speak of can take any load you put on them after a fire. The fire typically isn't in the attic MORON. The old houses were built much better than the newer ones. You can thing of 3 fires in the last 4 years that a ladder truck was needed? Then why didn't you use the old one? Three fires in in 4 years is less than one fire a year. NOT NEEDED MORON!!

When did Gordy become a paid fireman? Wasn't he the one that said building the fire castle on Cypress street would not stop the volunteers from responding? You don't see many showing up for the bell alarms. Station 1 and 2 volunteers fail to get out on alarm so if you take the paid staff away how many calls will really go unanswered?

Anonymous said...

Box? Pretty sure there aren't "box alarms" because SFD and the drunks in Hebron don't want them or should I say Hebron's drunk chief is too afraid SFD would take him off a call or two if he didn't hang on their coat tails!! But this ladeer truck was definitely not needed, But Pittsville wants to try and stay one up on on Willards and Parsonsburg when both those companies could give a $hit less.

Anonymous said...

Ooooo! Shiny! Want!

Anonymous said...

Really? These old houses aren't taken care of very well. Three fires .... Apt building in pittsville, big green house in Willards first due on old ocean city rd., the repo man's house on line road, and lets add the sheriffs deputies house who burnt up to the mix. Keep swinging your hammer Bob the builder!

His point isn't what be said. Again whos trolling? Tell your boy friend to fight his own battles girly!

Dammed if you do dammed if you don’t. Pittsville Fire Department cannot afford a piece of “New” fire apparatus to replace a 40 year old ladder truck so the committee did well finding a good used ladder truck for less than half the cost of a new ladder. Pittsville has purchased other used apparatus because we cannot afford new. Everything associated with the fire, ems or police continues to go up but funding. I commend the members of Pittsville VFD for making a cost effective purchase within their means. FYI Pittsville currently operates other used apparatus to provide service.

The problem is the ones who show up to drive the ambulance are the same ones over and over... Billy ehrisman can't do it forever! Not everyone shows up to drive the United unless there is a non breathing subject then everyone goes to see someone dead and if the provider resuscitated the person that everyone that signed up for the call gets a lifesaver award.... Nothing but a bunch of attention whores. I still don't get how you have a paid ems captain and lieutenant down there. They get paid to run calls and they still get lowsap points for running calls. It's double dipping. It's illegal because theyg et a $3500 tax break. Steve white did the same thing paid paramedic and fire chief. Jen Bratten (or whatever last name she's married to this month and Tony Webster... Both paid providers forthere department, both ems officersn neither one runs calls when they aren't being paid, yet still somehow manage to still get their requirements to stay as an active member and that 3500.00 dollar Tax break. The ems captain is the one who disciplines a ems provider if somethingwis done by the department sop ( standard operating procedure) so how is Tony Webster disciplining himself if he does something wrong. It is a major conflict of interest and illegal as far as the IRS is concerned. Normal people working don't get a tax break for going to work. These clowns shouldn't either.

These arent the only ones in the county collecting lowsap and having the members paid. Just look around the county!

I'm a builder and while some old houses are built like tanks, its the building practices, materials and foundations used at the time that lead to alot if failures. Inadequate foundation and span support causes floors and rooflines to sag, improper ventilation in soffits, either flammable insulation or not enough insulation causing air pockets in walls to burst. I could keep going on but you'll just come back with a sub par retort thinking you're better than everyone else.

Anonymous said...

Maybe they are trying too buy one for each member. There is one that sits on Pitts ave.in a driveway all the time. all this equipment They may need a bigger firehouse.

Anonymous said...

Whose house is that? I see that pickup every time I ride by and when I am on the road. Are fireman allowed to take those home and use them for personal use?
