Mayor Jake Day Appointed to National League of Cities Community and Economic Development Committee

WASHINGTON – Salisbury, MD Mayor Jake Day has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) Community and Economic Development committee. This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness. The appointment was announced by NLC President Melodee Colbert-Kean, councilmember, Joplin, Mo.

Mayor Day will not only bring his experience in city economic development to the Committee, but will bring leading strategies home to Salisbury. “Cities are economic engines, comprised of the places we live and play, the businesses that create jobs and the people who those jobs represent”, said Mayor Day. “I am honored to help our cities become even more efficient and productive and to lobby our federal leaders to support those efforts.”

As a member of the committee, Mayor Day will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the Administration and at home.

The chair of the Community and Economic Development committee is Craig Thurmond, mayor, Broken Arrow, Okla.

For more information on NLC’s other committees and councils, visit http://www.nlc.org/influence-federal-policy/policy-committees.

The National League of Cities (NLC) is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.

Heaven help "American Cities." Maybe he'll bring more Chicago PAC money and Good 'Ole Boy politics to cities across the nation. Will Salisbury taxpayers foot the bill?

What I don't understand is why everyone complains and says negative things about any person that comes forth and runs/gets elected to an office, but the same people sit back and do nothing but complain! Step up or shut up!

More resume climbing.

Appointment by volunteering?

Yes, just like they do for Laura Mitchell and her participation in the Maryland Municipal League.

What I can't stand or understand is why you Jake Day or your few minions come to your defense while you are playing the anointed one.

@8:43
There are never going to be factory jobs here ever again. That ship has sailed and the area failed to keep up with the times. Want a job, start practicing waitress/waiter skills or cleaning hotel rooms for traveling softball teams.
