Is Shopping On Christmas Day The Next Big Thing In Retail?
For better or worse, we’ve come to a point where shopping on Thanksgiving day is no longer a fringe case. But what about Dec. 25? With the exception of some vital retailers — drugstores, the occasional supermarket, gas stations, and, most importantly, movie theaters — most stores don’t even mess with the idea of opening on Christmas. But a new survey says that a not insignificant number of shoppers would be willing to buy stuff after they clean up all the wrapping paper.

I liked the Blue Laws, too, but commerce has outpaced dignity.
Let these stores stay closed on Christmas Day out of what self-respect we still have.
And let's not promote the potential for an historically significant terrorist act, as in bombing a crowded shopping mall, on Christmas Day. Something like that could take what are now primarily political issues into a whole new arena.
Not a christian country anymore....people giving up on believing in fairy tales from 2000 years ago.
I agree with the comments. Since we are no longer a Christian nation, why not. It's become a bad word to say Merry CHRISTmas! I work for the State, and we are not allowed to have any reference of Christmas. No Christmas Tree, and no Christmas decorations, except for a few items in your cubicle. The year Christmas party has become the Winter Holiday party or simply winter party.
We have one atheist in our office, and she won't even attend the party even with the word or reference to Christmas taken out.
Political correctness has destroyed this country and has taken away some our our rights to free speech and free expression that was supposed to be guaranteed under our constitution. This country was founded on Freedom of religion, not freedom from religion!!!

If retailers relied on people like me that have never and will never shop on holidays they'd be out of business fast. My time with family is far more rewarding than anything available in any store. They could give items away free and I'd still opt for my time with family.
Maybe if you had an education and didn't work 50-60 hours a week, you would have plenty of time for family.
Please leave Christmas Day alone.
People now have to work 50 to 60 hours to pay for Obama care.
Only the ones with such low level jobs that they didn't have insurance in the first place. I can honestly say I don't know anyone that has obamacare or didn't have insurance but then again, everyone I know well enough to know whether they have insurance all have college degrees or better.
