Maryland gets 'C' on March of Dimes report card

NBC) —A new report from the March of Dimes finds that while there have been improvements in the nation's preterm birth rate, there's much more work to be done.

The national preterm birth rate is about 9.5 percent, earning a grade of "C" in the March of Dimes' latest report card. Maryland got a "C" with a 10.1 percent preterm birth rate, while Baltimore City got an "F" with a 12.2 percent preterm birth rate.

Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen released a statement Thursday afternoon, saying in part: "Today’s announcement only reinforces how premature birth rates are deeply tied to fundamental issues of racial equity and systemic poverty. To continue moving the needle forward, we need the continued -- and expanded -- support from our local, state, and federal partners, so that we can ensure that every child born in Baltimore is born at a healthy weight, full-term and ready to thrive in healthy families.”

Joe, We just received a DIME in the mail from them. My wife called them several yrs. ago to stop this. They did and we got a break down where their donations go to. Unbelievable, that dime they sent us was to go one person for assistance. The rest of their donations go to cover their upper staffing positions. I am not donating period anymore. Joe, if I am wrong let me know.

But they don't say anything about all the botched C sections at our local hospitals?
