Salisbury Mayor Jim Ireton & City Council Have Lost Their Minds!

Clearly most of you did not read the full report we put up the other day referencing Lot 1 and Lot 11 and even I have to admit, I didn't either.

I want to go back to a few years ago when I ran for Mayor. Before I announced I went to Jim Ireton at the Salisbury Festival and held a one on one conversation. I asked Jim, are you going to run for Mayor again. He replied, I'm not sure yet. If I sell the parking lots Downtown before the election I will not run again. If I don't sell the lots I'll probably run again.

Well, what does that statement mean to YOU?

TONIGHT, the Salisbury City Council has Parking Lot 1 and 11 up for approval. Now you listen very carefully Ladies & Gentlemen, here's what you didn't know...

There was only ONE bid on these two parking lots. Lot 1 appraised for, $980,000.00, JUST LOT 1. Lot 11 sits next to the Cannon building. Gillis and Gilkerson will purchase, (unless you stop this TONIGHT) for $225,000.00 for both lots!

Now I'm all for progress and revitalizing Downtown but I wouldn't be honest if I didn't share all this information with you and remind you that this group also purchased the Feldman's Building for $5,000.00, NO, that is not a mistake, number wise. They also purchased the Old Station 15 for less than $70,000.00.

I'm extremely confident that if ANYONE had any idea the City would actually consider selling those lots for that kind of money, many interested buyers would have stepped up to the plate and purchased it.

LOOK, in permits alone for just parking, you could easily manage a $225,000.00 mortgage and pay it off very quickly.

I can guarantee you the County would step up to the plate and buy it as well. I know there will be some of you out there saying, well, they should have put in an offer. NO! An offer so low is not only a smack in the face of each and every City and County taxpayer, IT SHOULD NOT EVEN BE CONSIDERED! Heck, I offered $250,000.00 cash for just the old Fire Station but they refused to sell it to me.

You people need to rise up and fight this TONIGHT. I'm talking about City and County residents and taxpayers and that goes for all the business owners as well. It's time your voices be heard. It's time to Mayor and Council know, you've had just about enough of this crap.

I'll remind all of you, you are not hearing about this anywhere else. Your local Media continues to fail you. You need to call your neighbors and friends and tell them about this article and tonight's meeting. Let's see how much this community really cares.

In closing, just what is $225,000.00 going to do for City taxpayers? Heck, that wouldn't cover repaving 20 car lengths of roads in the City and we ALL know how bad the roads are. It was your election to lose.

I have realized prior to moving out of the city no matter what common sense or well thought out strategies are done (Joe Albero is known for both of these) public opinion means nothing so I believe it is greed that has run and manipulated the city government longer than we will know. They can all hang there head in shame but they will all be heading to the bank no matter what so called direction they have.

They never had any minds to lose to begin with. They are nothing more than slaves to those who got them elected. They aren't leaders. They are followers and useful idiots. They don't realize this and think they are really something being 'officials' of Salisbury. The reality is they have NOTHING to be proud of unless being an 'official' of The Crotch of the Lower Shore is an accomplishment. It used to only be The Armpit but under these losers it has sunk to The Crotch.

Is anyone looking into the personal finances of the blog council?

Joe this is the good ole boy network. I went to school with some of these characters and i have seen it go down for 40 years.

Let them take it and actually do something with it. The city was screwed when they demolished alot of the buildings for parking lots, the GOB, parking garage, etc. Sorry but that Feldman building looks better now than 4-5 years ago.

Incredible -- that building they are giving to SU is worth more than 4 Million, tax credit, but this large area is not worth a quarter million.

This is BS.

This is the "city planner" Day's deal -- give credit where due.

Anonymous said...

Let's see.....they always say follow the money. So I wonder whose pockets are filling with these deals.

LOL Same Gillis that thinks millennials want to live in cities and urban areas when US Census numbers prove otherwise? The same Gillis that's been "revitalizing" downtown Sby for what-30 years now with no results to show for it?
Yeah this Day character is real good at being a "city planner" with tax payers money. Yes useful idiot is all he is and the others too.

Everybody loves to complain on here and play tough guy, but not a single soul will show up tonight.

The good ol boys killed Salisbury and milked her Dry.

Welcome to downtown Palmerville. Before it's all over Palmer Gillis and his nefarious son will own it all. Let them have the dead zone. Downtown has been dead for years and will not come back no matter how many bars you put down there.

I already know one business making plans on leaving downtown. Since I go there, I'm glad they are moving. Not getting into the mess they are creating.

11:40. Right on!!!!

I don't know any of the individuals involved and the selling price does seem ridiculously low, but is there a possibility that it is due to the amount of funds they will be commiting to improve the properties after the original purchase? Just asking...

Anonymous said...

So when I want to use the library I will have no where close to park?

Anonymous said...

Exactly!

This deal was done at the blue lodge.
It is a done deal.

They are the only ones who will put up the money to improve the downtown area, Feldman's is looking better all the time.

Lots of student housing being built on south end of town, closer to college. Court Plaza and motel have been bought by Chinese who are going to build huge retail/apartment complex. Who is going to rent the properties downtown? Too far from college. So, they will end up low income housing and Salisbury will become more of a ghetto than it is. Don't understand why Gillis/Gilkerson is controlling city of Salisbury and all properties downtown. Second generation is only opening bars. Headquarters Live is not making it. Wake up people. You are being played.

what is blue lodge?

More developer welfare for people that already have lots of money. Every man, woman, and child that lives in town is about to give rich developers ~$15 out of their own pocket. Don't they have enough?

I'm so glad that I moved out of town this year.

NO you mean they are buying up property for pennies on the dollar they hog up the property until the housing gets better then unload it for the mighty $$$ they couldn't care less about you its all about lining there filthy pockets and ki k backs to the politicians who help them.

County government is corrupt too. Culver is being stymied by those in powerful paid positions and the RINO council. We are a joke to the rest of Maryland. Hogan needs to help clean up our County - not just the State. Hope Culver is smart enough to ask for his help to break the back of the good ole boys who continue to rape the taxpayers.

They better not give those parking lots away. There are no parking spaces close to anything as it is.

Anonymous said...

Are you crazy for asking a commonsense question on here? I'm surprised your not being bashed already.

The funny thing is with the negative comments...go to the meeting look around the room at all the empty chairs, complaining on the blog does nothing to stop'em!

I read here all the time about the good old boys network in Somerset Co. It can't touch what's going on in Salisbury. Better wake up Salisbury tax payers.

Nacho Mama's a fairly popular and successful restaurant (was a lot more popular than currently) in the Canton neighborhood in Baltimore is having issues with the landlord. This made all the local Baltimore news sites. I read a lot of the comments and the common theme was for Nacho Mama's to move their location to somewhere where there was PARKING.
You have to have parking and plenty of it. There are no if's, and's or but's about this. People want convenience. Again there are no if's, and's or but's about this-NONE. Without parking very few business are going to open because the customer base is already limited with the limited parking. Personally I won't park in a parking garage UNLESS it's valet. I don't and will not take my vehicle up and down and around and all over in search of a place to park. There is nothing anywhere worth it to me. I'm there to give you money so the businesses job is to make the experience as pleasant as possible and driving around looking for parking isn't doing that.
Maybe the mayor should sell off the parking lots of where the municipal employees park? See how well that goes over.

Anonymous said...

Wow. I'd sure take parking in a garage any day over finding a space in messed up parking lots like the ones we encounter at places like WalMart, Giant etc.

The problem w/Headquarters Live is that is it so like yesterday.
In this day and age people are so isolated because of email and texting that when you do go out and you want to have a drink, you want to socialize with people. It's hard to talk and hear when music is playing.

The Blue Lodge is the local Masonic Lodge. It had nothing to do with Masons lol. The lodge has went in a bad direction since Sam died members should be of the highest integrity. Enough said.

Wait until gni sells all their properties to gillis. Me thinks the mayor and police chief are on his payroll. Let crime run rampant and drive property values down, buy up cheap property and when you have an entire neighborhood, crack down on crime, raising property value and making the elite even richer.

Let them re-invent the wheel and ruffle their feathers, it makes them feel powerful with greed. I'm like Ben, I'm done here. They can get stores to come to downtown, won't take a rocket scientist to make that happen, then let the Center at Salisbury Mall just waste away. Just like what happened to the Old Mall, then all the property owners up that way will we see their property values swirl around the toilet just prior to a good flushing! Good ole boy politicin' at it's best. See who's hands gets greased this time, we know ole Mikey Dunn became a millionaire as city council president! Maybe that's why Jim doesn't want to be mayor any longer, he can get more dough as council president like his hero Mike Dunn.
