WARNING: Comments Being Rejected Or Spammed

While we encourage all of you to comment, agree or disagree with us, we have rules.

We know that the majority of you send us great comments that keep our posts loaded with great debate. However, there are some people who come here simply to attempt to get their nasty comments through.

We read ALL comments and we moderate them. To date we have published 725,000 comments. That's a lot of work on our behalf and Lord only knows how many we have rejected or spammed.

If you choose to curse, you are rejected. If you personally attack someone anonymously we'll reject your comment. If you use all capitol letters, (screaming/yelling) or racist comments you are immediately rejected. In some cases, (depending on the abuse) we'll spam you and you'll no longer be able to comment on Salisbury News.

So if someone ever tells you their comments never see the light of day, know that they are very verbally abusive people.

Thanks for understanding.

Isn't that a form of infringement on our First Amendment rights? Food for thought.

7:35, We have always said that IF you use your real name, we'll publish any comment because YOU own it. If you want to hide behind anonymous and not be accountable for your words, you have no First Amendment Right.

Joe, Don't get all twisted up about it. By making the comment, I was only contributing your blog and trying to get people thinking. By the way, I AM one of the few that autographs my comments on occasion.

Dave, I am not upset at all. I'm simply stating the facts. Thanks for participating.

I guess this is another wake up call , my wife even tries to harness me most of the time. Excuse: The world is in turmoil , our country is at the bottom of the pit , I can't do a damn thing about it but complain . Anyway , I get it , thanks.

Just don't confuse nasty comments with cutting edge comments.Long before you and I were born, control of the US began gravitating out of our country and therefore out of our control. For at least that many years we've been duped into thinking we had more say in every facet than we actually do.The average American still thinks that.Well,we do not nor will we ever again because our collective behavior on the world stage deprived us of that priviledge.

I have left logical comments (free from abusive behavior) that have not seen "the light of day," but they happened to oppose your current line of reasoning. Those are the frustrating ones. Granted, you're not as bad as other places, but it is still frustating.

9:03, Perhaps you should start by looking at the name you use. You do NOT own your comment just because you created a registered false name. Many comments that come through are ones in which we refuse to take responsibility for simply based on the fact that you are not accountable for it and there's a chance WE may be.

If you hate Bloggers so bad, start your own, (with all due respect) and express your opinions. That goes for anyone else who wants to claim we always refuse your comment.

Funny thing is, I wonder how we allegedly know who ALL of those anonymous complainers are who claim we always reject their comment. It says a LOT about who they are and what they attempt to say on here.

It just goes to show we're obviously doing an incredible job, (according to you) rejecting aggressive and abusive comments.

All due respect Joe but you are a media site. Protected by law. Not one person can hold you responsible for any anonymous comment. Just as they cannot make you give up any author. It's an interesting read. I was threatened to be slapped with a law suit for making a comment about a person on your site. Called my attorney and had a sit. He explained to me how well protected you are as well as other media sites. Blogs have great protection.

9:40, While I have been challenged numerous times in Court and have won, they have passed laws that can hold the Blog Owner liable.

Why stir the pot and take chances on RACIST and over the top comments.

When you create your own Blog, since you believe you can't be touched legally and several people sue you, then you'll see what it cost you to DEFEND your RIGHTS.

In the mean time I'll run this Blog the way I see fit.

Finally, it always amazes me how some can confront me and say, how could you say such a thing about this or that. They come off angry and I'll say, I NEVER SAID THAT. They'll say, yes you did, I saw it. By the time we're done talking they come to realize it wasn't ME who said it, it was a COMMENT.

Imagine if I let ALL the comments up, what people would think of me then. No thanks.

ANYONE who gets to know me personally knows how caring and giving I truly am. Many friends come to my defense and tell others, you don't know Joe Albero. It's a shame people have to defend me and I feel really bad about that, honestly. I'm surrounded by many great friends and supporters as I'm a very lucky man.

They say you've lived a great life if you can count your close friends on one hand. My friends have proven I live a spectacular life because I need more then two hands, that's for sure.

Agree with 903. Opinions that differ from the majority on here never get posted regardless of whether I put my name on it or not.

9:40 You might just need to get another attorney as yours seems a bit clueless. It's called libel. Once the paperwork is filed and the courts say you have a case Blogger's (Blogger as in Google the host of this and other blogs) records can be subpoenaed.
This is where you run into problems though. You need to hire a qualified person (some a court will recognize as an expert witness) to go through all the clicks and outclicks and on and on and figure out what IP made the comment. Becomes nearly impossible because of proxies sometimes being used. Then if they even can narrow it down to what IP made the comment you then have the problem of proving a particular person made the comment.
The biggest problem is on a busy site like Sby News hiring a qualified forensic computer specialist is going to cost you 10's of 1000's of dollars. This is why a lot of publications have outsourced their comments to Facebook. To avoid potential liability issues that may arise with libelous comment.

No way. Kudos to you. Things may have changed since my incident. I could never do what you do. I was merely hoping to shine even more light on how great sbynews is.

Wow. I didn't need to see his name. If your really not posting things on purpose this is the one!
And Mr Lard Arse..... If it sucks why are you trolling on it? Don't you have fifty people to lie to on your blog? Here to steal more stories? Your a disgusting slob of a human.

11:25 am not sure what law school you went to but there is not a shred of case law to back up what you are saying.

Only the uneducated would think a private blog has to follow the First Amendment. But typical of you as we have all seen your nonsense. Too bad you quit school at 9th grade Dave and really have no clue.
