Elected to the House in 1996, Cummings is coming up on his 20th year representing Maryland’s 7th congressional district which includes over half of Baltimore City and most of Howard County. His district contains some of Maryland’s most “black” precincts, precincts in which statistics for crime and incarceration, homelessness, economic development, school drop-out, unemployment, drug conviction and out-of-wedlock birth rates all are consistently worse than both state and federal levels for all those same statistical categories.
Yet despite these facts, Cummings believes its time for EVERYBODY ELSE to realize that black lives matter.
In a piece published on afro.com Cummings laid out his plan new plan, “Enacting “Black Lives Matter” into law“, stating [in part]:
“America is at an historic crossroads. Either we will move forward in 2016 with public policies that support greater opportunity for everyone or we will continue to sink deeper into economic inequality, injustice and violence. These are the stakes in our current political struggles – and this is why black lives should matter for everyone.”

Jerk is an understand and if the blacks in his district had any sense they would have voted him out of office years ago! But they don't have any sense and that is why Baltimore City is a cesspool of crime and poverty, literally a war zone. When you vote stupid you have to wallow in the consequences and until they wise up they have to keep on digging the graves and holding their hands out like the slaves that they really are for more welfare.

"Affirmative action" in sentencing? Quotas for blacks to receive "not guilty" verdicts? Blacks to get parole approval before whites for the same crimes, similar circumstances and prior record? A quota of whites to imprison before guilty blacks can be locked up? A mass "amnesty" to release them from prison so they only comprise 13% of the prison population?
Where does it end?
And in those almost completely black and black run cities...with black prosecutors, police and judges...what degree of anarchy and criminality will they themselves tolerate?
I wonder what those black judges, who have handed down many of the "disparate" sentences, have to say about it. Probably not much.

he's racist. now wants legislation for black lives matter and leads the "black caucus" ... this is all racist.
Black lives do matter, as well as the lives of everyone regardless of race, color or creed. We could save lives by making it a mandatory life sentence for premeditated as well as attempted murder. Do you think Mr. Cummings would accept this as a partial solution?

black lives mater is just a group keeping the unrest in the country alive why don't they just say ALL lives matter and don't take color into the situation black leaders want to complain about other races,but are not doing much in their power to better the situation as long as the mentality of welfare benefits don't change,their children and grandchildren will be expecting a handout it is instilled in their upbringing
