SACRAMENTO, Calif. —After a groom-to-be called off a wedding, the bride-to-be's family decided to turn the extravagant event into a feast for those less fortunate.
It was a phone call too shocking, too sudden for Kari Duane to believe. On the other end of the line, her 27-year-old daughter Quinn told her the wedding wasn’t going to happen.
Her fiancé had called it off.
Deposits for the $35,000 wedding were already paid and more bills were coming due.

Turned a canceled wedding into a tax write off....Brilliant!
I feel so sorry for the bride and I'm glad she used an unfortunate incident to help others. However, I think spending $35,000 on a wedding is crazy. My husband and I cut corners all we could (we paid for our own wedding) and spent approx. $3000.00 We had 75 of our family members and close friends there and had a lovely time. You can have a very nice wedding without spending tons of money! :-)

That is because people are shallow, and only care about materialistic crap... Trying to keep up with the Jones's and going broke to do so is laughable... I understand that the wedding is the most important day for a women, but all they are care about is not love, but how big the wedding is, how many people are there and the cost... They forget that family and friends being together to witness a coming together of two families, is what is important...
And as the poster said above, more than likely they are doing this for tax wright off's, not for the main good purpose you think they are doing this for...
Some friends of mine are getting ready to get married. They only drink occasionally and were not going to worry about alcohol at their wedding, but are providing it so their friends will be happy. What the heck? Save your money! If your friends don't like it they can stay home! LOL!
