Huge Fire at 'Europe's Largest Mosque'

A huge fire broke out Saturday morning at a mosque in south London that describes itself as the largest in Western Europe.

London Fire Brigade said that 70 fire-fighters attended the scene in Morden Saturday afternoon with ten fire engines as well as specialist equipment.

According to ITV News, one witness said the smoke was so thick it was almost impossible to see the fire-fighters tackling the blaze.

The fire broke out Saturday morning at the Baitul Futuh Mosque in London Road, Morden. Its website describes it as the largest mosque in Western Europe, with capacity for 10,000 worshippers. The London Evening Standard says that it was completed in 2003 and cost about £5.5 million to build.

Eyewitness Mark Gale said: “It just solid smoke, it’s so thick you can hardly see the firefighters through it. There must be about a hundred emergency vehicles down there.”

No one asked why it took firefighters 2 hours to get dressed and start their engines.
They claimed they got lost on the way there. And the, ran out of gas.
God is great.
