GoFundMe Nixes Fundraiser For Kentucky Clerk

The left-leaning fundraising site GoFundMe has declined to accept a fundraising campaign for jailed Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk Kim Davis.

Davis was jailed on Thursday for defying a federal court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges in June. She was ordered detained for contempt of court and later rejected a proposal to allow her deputies to process same-sex marriage licenses that could have prompted her release. She has become the symbol of religious opposition to the heavy-handed tactics of the “gaystapo” who are ramming same-sex marriage through at the federal level across the nation in opposition of religious conservatives.

U.S. News and World Report noted, “In sending her to jail, U.S. District Judge David Bunning ignored the American Civil Liberties Union’s request that Davis be fined to compel compliance with orders that she issue marriage licenses. ACLU attorney Heather Weaver, who is working on the case, said there was testimony about fundraising efforts on Davis’ behalf, apparently a factor in the judge’s decision not to impose financial penalties.”

Davis will remain incarcerated until she agrees to resume issuing licenses, including those for same-sex marriage.

Supporters attempted to initiate a GoFundMe campaign for her defense, but were thwarted by the site’s Terms and Conditions, which were updated on April 29 to specify the site can choose not to allow “campaigns in defense of formal charges or claims of heinous crimes, violent, hateful, sexual or discriminatory acts.”

These terms were updated in response to the massive support behind the bakery Sweet Cakes By Melissa.

This really is all about cashing in, her time in jail will give her a nice payoff in book deals and speaking gigs.
The worst are the groups trying to piggy back on this to make money for themselves, Family Research Council and NOM.

The steady drop drip of war on traditional morals has destroyed much of what was good in Americas society.

So GoFundMe fights discrimination by discriminating. What hypocrites they are. I hate law suits but hope they get sued and lose their butts.

you're just as dumb as the rest of the rabid same-sex perverts.

i know you find this hard to believe, but some people follow the word of God, unlike yourself, who follows the word of Obama.

To 11:48 Conservative Christians need to develop their own Go Fund me site. they are capable of it. Should they do so that is when we will see the real discrimination start.

To 11:55 Who are you going to attack when Obama is no longer president? There is no question there has been a huge change in attitude toward homosexuals but that change has taken place over a 50 year span and Obama has had little or nothing to do with it.

She, and you, 11:55, are just stupid cattle, brainwashed into believing in fairy tales and myths. I have a magic wand to sell you...

She should be in jail. She's an elected official REFUSING to do her job. It isn't incompetence (like a lot of the elected officials suffer from), it isn't inability, it is her belief in mumbo jumbo that is impacting people's federally protected right to this benefit.

Bakery business: should have the right to decline to do business with anyone they wish.

Got it.

Crowdfunding business: should NOT have the same right.

Ummm...what??

Why? Because they don't agree with your point of view, that's why. This is the same hypocrisy the left is guilty of, and it is just as absurd.

Don't try to impose your values on others, and fight like hell if someone tries to impose theirs on yours. But if you aren't personally being forced to follow someone else's practice, it does not impose it on you. If you believe they are going to "hell" for what they are doing, it's their hell to explore, not yours. Besides, perhaps it's "god's plan" for them, how do you know otherwise? You want to interfere in "god's plan"? Go right ahead, and see who ends up taking the express train to Hell Central.

Freedom is the important distinction, and it must always stand clear and above personal beliefs and opinions.

Freedom means the bakers had the right to decline to do business with a gay couple without being penalized. And it means the gay couple had the right to do business elsewhere. They were not being denied the one and only gay wedding cake in the entire world. Other businesses are free to bake it for them. And all is good.

And freedom means the crowdfunding site has the right to decline to do business that similarly conflicts with their personal belief. Likewise, her supporters are free to collect money in another manner.

You can't have it both ways, people.

There is another site called you caring. I think it is also actually free they just ask for a donation. I don't know why most people don't use it instead of gofundme
