I started noticing “Cecil the Lion” trending on Facebook and Twitter at some point yesterday afternoon. By the evening, it was the most popular topic on social media, and stories about the lion were popping up on all of the national news sites.
Before I took the time to investigate, I tried to imagine if there could be any valid reason for a wild cat to become the biggest news item in the world. On a day when another undercover video revealed Planned Parenthood dismembering murdered children for profit, I strained to think if there might be some justification for ignoring the harvesting of human beings in favor of obsessing over a large feline in Africa.
I thought maybe the lion had cured cancer, or sprouted wings and flown into space, or stood on its hind legs and recited the Gettysburg Address. Surely, these developments would vindicate the disproportionate amount of attention it was receiving. But I quickly found out that the lion, from Zimbabwe, had done no such thing. Apparently, all it did was die.

What about all the children in Africa that are starving to death? Guess a lion is more important than them? Makes me sick...
Considering that planned parenthood helps keep a good percentage of thugs from being born , yeah this nice lion takes priority.
We already know that White lives don't matter because the news fails to report black on white crime, and we know Obama says that Military lives don't matter, it took public condemnation to get the flags lowered.
He was murdered, that is why.
I literally said this to my wife two days ago when the report came out. I disagree with the hunting and killing of the animal, but we barely bat an eye when 10 people are killed in a weekend in some cities. I am pretty astounded.
Those animals have no control over their diminishing habitat. They are at the mercy of humans that can, and do, make choices. We choose to encroach and destroy. They cannot simply avoid a given situation as we can. Humans have a say about their environments. At least most do. We should help those that don't have a voice. Animals have no voice.

That baby that they are killing has no voice either. They are at the mercy of their mother to make the choice to save them.
Sport hunting is for sociopathic nut jobs. A step away from a serial murderer. A sane hunter will only kill to feed himself and family or others in need.
Butthole
I would say that some people have very little control over their habitat. When you are born, how are you supposed to have control of where your family raises you? I guess you can run away from home with no money and no place to live. This lions death was senseless and ridiculous, but the outrage far surpasses lives of humans lost. That is absolutely ridiculous. We do not go on and on about cows who are slaughtered every day who have zero chance in choosing their habitat. Again the killing was terrible, but I believe that peoples response to this was even more concerning for the human race.
!!:41.....Regarding your comment about the children in Africa dying...When I see people helping the people of Africa it seems it is always Caucasians. Take notice the next time you see them receiving help. You will never see Jesse or Al there.
,There are over 7 billion people in the world, growing exponentially, who will eventually overwhelm the planet and the resources left available to us. There are less than 32,000 lions left in the wild. A population decimated by human growth, as most species are. If you can't understand the difference, your as much as a moron as the guy who wrote this article.
It is not fully and simply about the lion.
The outrages is because some jerk paid 50K to stand in a field, and shoot to kill an animal and call it "hunting"
When you can chase it down with a spear and kill it, and then use the meat for food, then you are hunting.
This was simply killing and most intelligent humans are quite sick of the senseless killing and the morons who post pictures of their "killing" on social media.
If you hunt for food, good for you. Otherwise you are just murdering another living being.
In loving memory of Cecil I'm shopping at Food Lion tomorrow. That lion in their commercials had better watch his back!
2:29 You wouldn't see them anyway, would you? They all look alike to you, so they would just blend in.
An excellent and underestimated benefit.
The issue is about Mr. Palmer the wealthy trophy hunter who is a poacher not a hunter. Most of the hunters I have spoken with don't think very much of his hunting skill.
Of course not! They don't have money to give Al and Jesse, so their lives don't matter.
And you're right. it's always whites with the feedsack and bibles in Africa. Stupid, clueless, misguided, well-intentioned white people. Feed 'em, baptize 'em into Christians, and send 'em off to breed more potential
Christians.
White people need to leave Africa to learn to fend for itself, and quit trying to "civilize" them. They were fine the way they were before, happy and culturally fulfilled running around with loincloths and spears.
Making assumptions about people is just plain bad form.
Whatever Africans arranged this "hunt" and took the money, were more or less selling the animal, which did not belong to them. Nobody is holding them accountable. Mr. Palmer would not have shot the lion if the Africans hadn't offered the deal. But they would have still "sold" the poor beast to anyone they could.
So they are more to blame than Mr. Palmer.
WELL SAID 1:20!!!
5:42 Thank you. That is the only reasonable response I've read so far.
