Frosh, who has scheduled a Tuesday news conference about the initiative, said the guidelines are similar to guidance issued in December by the U.S. Justice Department, which called on states to adopt their own. Frosh said Maryland is the first state to issue its own guidance.
"We want this memorandum to create the standard for how law enforcement operates in Maryland," Frosh said.
Frosh, a Democrat, said the guidance goes significantly further than current Maryland law. First, it defines discriminatory profiling not only based on race and ethnicity, but also on national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability and religion. It also applies to a broader range of police actions beyond traffic stops, including routine police operations and ongoing investigations.

The police are not going to be able to help you when you need it.
The law is now in favor of the criminal elements in our society.

Tighter? Your like kids in a candy store as it is. Do whatever you want to who ever you want. Not to mention your now allowed to claim ignorance to get away with anything.
Won't stop them from doing it. Never has, never will. If you know any police officers personally, they will always tell you that they can stop any vehicle they WANT to stop (i.e. profiling), and can always make up a reason for stopping it. If they can't find anything on the driver that is profiled, they will issue a "warning" for the profiled stop, that can't be protested in court. They have always defied "do not profile" rules.

Profiling to very important to Police work. It should be increased and pushed by Legislators not prohibited. You probably accuse me of profiling when I use a persons MO. It prevents crime.
"Profiling" used to be called police intuition. After being on the beat for a few years, a cop can notice when things are exactly right.
He may not be able to specifically say what's wrong, but that's his job. Often he's right.
WE use "intuition" every day and it sometimes saves our lives.
Let the cops do their job.
