Salisbury, Md –
The Annual West Wicomico Heritage Ride Bike Tour will return on Saturday, Sept. 12. The tour will begin and end at Pemberton Historical Park and travel through the western Wicomico County towns of Whitehaven, Hebron, Quantico and Bivalve. Cyclers will experience 300 years of Maryland history along some of the most scenic roadways on the Eastern Shore.

Participants may choose from a new 5.5 mile Family Fun Ride, 32, 50 or 62 mile ride. Riders receive a t-shirt, map and cue sheet upon check-in. Rest areas are conveniently placed throughout the tour complete with sports drinks, iced water and healthy snacks. SAG service is available as well. The event concludes at Pemberton Historical Park with an outdoor picnic and live music until 2:30 p.m. Beer will be available for purchase (valid ID required).

Register early and save $5! Now through August 14, registration fees are $35 for adults and $20 for children (ages 8-18). Children ages 7 & under ride free (t-shirt not included). After August 14, registration fees will be $40 for adults and $25 for children. Registration is available online at www.PembertonPark.org or in person at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Box Office (500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury, MD; Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.).

Proceeds from the tour go directly to historic preservation and education. Pemberton Historical Park's goal is to rebuild many of the plantation's outbuildings and become a working 18th century plantation. Among other projects, the Whitehaven Heritage Association, Inc., has used proceeds to restore and maintain the one-room schoolhouse built in 1886 and replace the steeple of the United Methodist Church, which was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel in 1954. It is currently raising funds to replace the schoolhouse roof.
