Georgetown, DE – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single vehicle crash that killed one person.
The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred around 11:32 a.m. this morning, Monday, July, 27 2015, as Troy J. Bradford, 32 of Millsboro, was operating a 2000 Dodge Neon northbound on Savannah Road (CR 246), .2 miles south of Rudd Road (CR 245) north of Georgetown. Bradford was traveling at an unsafe rate of speed for the existing wet and curvy roadway conditions. While negotiating a sharp left curve, the rear of his vehicle began to rotate counterclockwise. Bradford overcorrected right, which then caused his vehicle to rotate in the opposite direction off of the roadway into a densely wooded area. The driver’s side door subsequently struck a large standing tree which penetrated substantially into the driver’s seating area. Bradford was properly restrained however, sustained massive trauma and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into the incident. Savannah Road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
Note: Tomorrow on July 28, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The Collision Reconstruction Unit will be conducting Forensic Mapping and the roadway will have limited access as one lane will be closed for that hour.
