About 7.5 million Americans paid an average penalty of $200 for not having health insurance in 2014 — the first year most Americans were required to have coverage under the Affordable Care Act, the Internal Revenue Service said Tuesday.
By contrast, taxpayers filing three-quarters of the 102 million returns received by the IRS so far this year checked a box indicating they had qualifying insurance coverage all year.
Counting another 7 million dependents who weren't required to report their coverage but also filed returns, the proportion with qualifying insurance rises to 81 percent, the IRS said.

So now we're just believing a check-box on the tax return...sounds like the Iran nuke deal to me....
So can I just check a box telling the IRS that I paid my taxes (better yet - that I don't owe any) and be done with it?
This penalty is wrong!! The government is just getting richer for these people struggling. I have a granddaughter that makes 20,000 per year working 1 full time job and 3 part time jobs just to survive who can not afford healthcare because all of her money pays just to live. She got a $200.00 penalty. She also owed more taxes. Where does it end with the government ripping off the working class.

Doesn't seem fair does it? Yet you have people that have multiple kids with different fathers and are getting thousands of dollars a year to help them and they penalize the working people.
The harder you work they more they want to take so they can give it to the lazy.
