BACK TO SCHOOL ROUNDUP FOR EVERY WICOMICO SCHOOL

School Contact Information, Administrators, Dates and Other Key Details for Schools, Some Programs

Schools will mail welcome letters to all students at the end of the third week of August.Wicomico County Schools will hold open houses the week of Aug. 24-28 in preparation for the opening of the 2015-2016 school year on Monday, Aug. 31, for most students*.

*Please note that students in grades 1-6 and grade 9 will attend school on Aug. 31.

(Exceptions: All grades will attend at Pittsville Elementary and Middle, and only grade 6 will attend at Mardela Middle and High.)

All students in grades 1-12 will be in school Tuesday, Sept. 1. During the first week, kindergarten and prekindergarten students will report as scheduled by the assigned school.

This year Prince Street was recognized by MSDE for its PBIS Incentive Program as an Exemplar School for 2015 making this our seventh consecutive year. Prince Street will continue to showcase programs such as The Prince Street Steppers, Nothin’ but Net, Junior Mentors, Gentlemen’s Club, DOVES, Panther Play Days and CAT Club, just to name a few. Blessings in Backpack will be in its third year providing supplemental meals to over half of the school’s children. New this year will be a collaborative effort to bridge our school’s choral program with a new youth choir at AMBC. Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Alice Wigfield (former music teacher at WiHi and the choral director for the Magi) have been discussing many exciting things, so we can look forward to some wonderful and inspirational performances this year. Our Parent Advisory Committee in connection with our community outreach initiatives will be very active this year working with our family/community liaisons, Mrs. Christen Tacka, Mrs. Kristen Rickards and Mrs. April Guard. This year we will continue with our goal and high expectations with regard to our instructional program with an emphasis on building our students’ literary background.

Please note: Choices Academy is designed to provide intervention to struggling students as well as an alternative to the traditional school setting.  Choices Academy supports students in grade 6-12 and works with all secondary schools to help meet the needs of students in order to help them become college and career ready.
