Prisoner walks off from Eastern Pre-Release Unit

CHURCH HILL — Police in Queen Anne's County are looking for a prisoner who walked off from the Eastern Pre-Release Unit on Flat Iron Square Road Wednesday evening, June 10.

William Joseph Wooters, 52, was present for the head count at 4 p.m., but around 5 p.m. corrections officers noticed he was missing, said Sgt. Todd Redpath of the Maryland State Police. They alerted MSP, and troopers responded to the center to help search for him.

Redpath said police used a reverse 911 system to notify residents in the area.

Around 7 p.m. they got a call from someone who reported seeing a man snooping around a storage trailer off Route 405 east of Route 301, Redpath said. Police responded with dogs and helicopters but did not locate Wooters.
