Troopers Investigate Fatal Collision Northeast of Georgetown

Georgetown, DE – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a two vehicle crash that killed one person.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. this morning, Saturday May 30, 2015 as Austin W. Buckingham, 24 of Millsboro, was operating a 2009 Hummer HH3 northbound on Savannah Road approaching Wilson Road. Gary L. Levis, 50 of Bridgeville, was operating a 2006 Cadillac DTS eastbound on Wilson road when the Hummer failed to stop at the posted stop sign and struck the passenger's side of the Cadillac. Upon impact, both vehicles rotated and exited the northeast corner of the roadway where they both overturned on the left side and came to a stop.

Austin Buckingham was properly restrained and transported from the scene by Emergency Medical Services to Beebe Healthcare where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Gary Levis was properly restrained and initially transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare before being airlifted by LifeNet to Christiana Medical Center where he is currently admitted in critical condition.

A 48 year old female passenger in the Cadillac, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was properly restrained and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident and no charges have been filed at this time. Wilson Road at Savannah Road was closed for approximately four hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

If the Hummer failed to stop at the stop sign and they know it, the only reason they're still investigating is to cover up a crime.
