Law enforcement fatalities in the United States increased 24 percent in 2014 to 126, and ambush-style attacks were the No. 1 cause of felonious officer deaths for the fifth straight year, according to preliminary data from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
The memorial fund report said 126 federal, state, local, tribal and territorial officers were killed in the line of duty this year, compared to 102 last year. The number of officers killed by firearms in 2014 — 50 — is up 56 percent from the 32 killed last year.
Part of the dramatic increase can be attributed to the fact that line-of-duty deaths last year, at 102, had dropped to the lowest levels since 1944. The figure was down from 123 fatalities in 2012. Over the past decade, the average annual number of officer deaths has been 151, the NLEOMF report said. In 2011, officer fatalities were at 171, prompting a number of initiatives aimed at promoting safety.

And cops still aren't in the 10 deadliest occupations list. When you hear of people saying how dangerous being a cop is, ask them why they are not out championing for the lives of construction workers, lumberjacks, and trash men. And when a cop claims that they were fearful for their lives and had to kill somebody or an animal, realize they are more afraid than deep sea fisherman and line workers.
Funny how records are kept on cops being killed nation wide. Now here is the interesting thing. Did you know no records are kept on civilians being killed by cops? That's right you will never see a list of people that have been killed by officers in the USA. There are no stats kept for one simple reason. They (the police) simply don't want this statistic known. They are afraid the truth would be seen that in fact thousands of people are killed each year by police. I challenge your readers to find any stats on nation wide police involved killings. You will only find stats on officers being killed that I'm sure of. It's not only black lives that matter it's all of our lives. Just not in the eyes of police anyways other wise they would be able to show you these stats.
How many more civilians have been killed? Oh wait that don't matter so we don't keep them records.

Yes there is. At least two. Their accuracy is questionable but they are out there.
There must be some sort of record kept, otherwise how would you have come up with the "thousands of people killed each year by police" figure? Your comment is obviously well researched and accurate.
Time for the police to step it up! Start eliminating the garbage of society.
