I wonder if sfd paid crew leaves town to assist? I feel they shouldn't. Only the volleys should assist other towns. The paid guys need to stay in town..
The volunteers fail to respond at such a rate that other departments cant depend on them. The "Keep the paid men in town" mentality ended years ago. When the alarm goes off you cant afford to wait. Whoever is in station should respond immediately regardless of paid or volunteer.
I normally would never comment on fire department issues but tonight on the news I saw that the city is terminating their federal grant employees as the grant monies have ended, and there may not be receiving these funds again. So many of these firefighters who have families will not have jobs just before the holidays. I just cannot understand how each of the 4 career shifts will be losing a total of 10 staff. Is this going to affect me or the care or response I may need? I am worried that the citizens of Salisbury are going to suffer!!!
