Section 8 Voucher Application Moves Online

BALTIMORE —Hoping to avoid chaos and confusion, Baltimore City Housing officials are turning to technology as they open a waiting list for Section 8 vouchers.

Applications can be submitted on a computer or smartphone. Housing officials said they think taking the process online is the most efficient way to help the most people, and they don't want to create a situation that has happened in other cities.

Thousands braved stifling heat in Atlanta in August 2010, and last year in Chalmette, Louisiana, hundreds waited in the rain. In both cases, all they wanted was to get on a waiting list for federally subsidized Section 8 rental vouchers.

Maybe they should have stood in line for a job.

Maybe we could send people to their homes to fill out the papers for them so they don't even have to get off of their lazy asses.

Section 8 housing should be like living in a squad-bay...one bed, one wall locker, and one foot-locker per person. No inside walls, no privacy, and shared bathrooms.

If they did that, apartment rents would go down for the rest of us as we wouldn't be subsidizing the government too! Additionally, people might have an incentive to go get a job so they can afford their own room!
