Governor O’Malley Declares Thursday, October 2, 2014 ‘O’s Orange Day’ in Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, MD – In honor of the Baltimore Orioles advancing to the American League Divisional Playoffs, Governor O’Malley is proclaiming Thursday, October 2, 2014, ‘O’s Orange Day’ in Maryland. O’Malley is encouraging Maryland state government employees to wear orange to work in support of the Orioles post-season run.

Proclamation text is as follows:

Governor’s Proclamation Declaring Thursday, October 2, 2014 as O’s Orange Day in Maryland  

Whereas, the Baltimore Orioles, and manager Buck Showalter, prevailed against all odds to win the American League East Division championship for the first time in 20 years; and

Whereas, the Baltimore Orioles and their legion of fans soared across the country and battled to a 96-66 regular season record, while adopting the mantra, “We Won’t Stop;” and

Whereas, the Baltimore Orioles are seeking to cage the Detroit Tigers in the American League East Division Playoffs at Camden Yards; and

Whereas, Orioles baseball is a Maryland tradition like Old Bay, crabs, and the Star Spangled Banner; and

Whereas, Orioles fans, from Western Maryland to the Eastern Shore, from Southern Maryland to Northeast, have black and orange fever and will support our high-flying Birds throughout their 2014 playoff run; and

Whereas, Buck’s Birds will be relentless and “We Won’t Stop” in our pursuit of a World Series championship.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARTIN O’MALLEY, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND, do hereby proclaim OCTOBER 2, 2014 as O’s ORANGE DAY in MARYLAND, and do commend this celebration and encourage all citizens to wear orange throughout the MLB playoffs.
