NOTICE FOR K, 7TH GRADE STUDENTS NOT MEETING NEW IMMUNIZATION RULES

Wicomico schools is sending letters this week to parents/guardians of any students in kindergarten or 7th grade for whom proof has not yet been provided to the school of the student meeting Maryland’s new immunization requirements.

Maryland immunization requirements changed for the 2014-2015 school year. All Maryland students entering the 7th grade must receive a booster Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis/whooping cough) and MCV4 (meningococcal) vaccine. Maryland students entering kindergarten must receive a second dose of varicella (Chicken pox) vaccine.

The Maryland State Department of Education has coordinated efforts with the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to provide additional time for families to meet the new immunization requirements. Wicomico joined most Maryland school systems in requesting an extension of the immunization deadline to Oct. 31.

Approximately 2,200 Wicomico kindergarten and 7th grade students must meet the new requirements. For about 400 of those students, proof of meeting the new immunization requirements has not yet been provided to the school.Parents/guardians of students in Wicomico County Public Schools who receive the September 2014 reminder letter should check their child’s health record immediately to determine whether the student already meets the new state requirements, or whether immunization(s) are needed. Please contact the child’s physician to obtain a current immunization record.
  • If the student has already received the required vaccine(s), parents/guardians should provide proof of immunization to the school as soon as possible, if that has not already been done.
  • If the student has not already received the required vaccines, parents/guardians should contact their child’s physician’s office or the Wicomico County Health Department at 410-543-6943 to make an appointment to receive the vaccines.
Students for whom proof of immunization or an appointment for immunization has not been provided will be excluded from school after Oct. 31, 2014, in accordance with state law, until proof is provided. Parents/guardians of any students receiving an immunization at an appointment after Oct. 31 must provide proof of immunization to the school as soon as the immunization has been done.

Wicomico Schools began informing parents of the new immunization requirements last spring, with the 3rd marking period report card and during kindergarten registration for the 2014-2015 school year. Two free Wicomico Health Department walk-in clinics for the new immunizations took place over the summer. Information about the new immunization requirements was shared for several weeks on the school system’s Back to School page.

Does this rule apply to illegal children brought into Maryland by Omalley?

But it's Ok to tell the illegals we don't need to see any immunization records?

Notice the BOE doesn't want people to know about vaccine waivers.

Given the Guardisil scandal in Texas (it's banned in India and Japan), William Thompson's retraction of his faked vaccine study, and how there's no financial risk to companies for creating a harmful vaccine, I don't trust them at all.

Just say no. Until all the illegal immigrants are either vaccinated and medically checked or sent back to their own countries.

What they don't tell you is the Health Dept. charges $250.00 for the vaccines because insurance will not cover them.
