Hundreds of medical pros demand investigation into Pa. fracking

As Pennsylvania nurses, doctors and other health professionals we are very concerned about the recent allegations that the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DoH) is obstructing attempts to investigate and remedy potential impacts from shale gas drilling in the Commonwealth....

-- The beginning of a letter from 405 prominent medical professionals sent to Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett and other elected officials; a copy of the letter is posted along with the news article, "Doctors Want State Investigation Into Fracking Claims," by Joel Mathis, at this August 21, 2014 Philadelphia Magazine site:

“When it comes to fracking, the DOH has done little to prevent exposure or lead policy development.... The PA DOH does not provide accurate data to address the health needs of fracking communities, thereby hindering research, and permitting poor decisions to be made based on inaccurate information.”
