'PHISHING' EMAIL SCAM

Public Can Call Customer Service Line at 1-888-321-6824 to Report Phony Emails
 
BALTIMORE, MD The Maryland Transportation Authority is warning the public today that several phony emails are circulating requesting E-ZPass Maryland customers to pay their toll debt online. This is a phishing email seeking to obtain personal information and should be ignored and deleted. A sample of this email is shown below.

Under no circumstance does E-ZPass Maryland ever request personal information via email. While E-ZPass Maryland periodically sends marketing emails for upcoming events, projects or surveys, the agency will never send an unsolicited email demanding payment or requesting sensitive personal information such as credit card information, social security numbers, user names, passwords, etc.

If contacted via email by anyone stating that they are from E-ZPass Maryland and they are seeking personal information, E-ZPass Maryland advises the public not to open or respond to the message. The safest thing to do is delete the email. The public is urged to call the E-ZPass Maryland Customer Service Center at 1-888-321-6824 to report if they have been contacted by someone attempting to obtain personal information, or if they have any questions about their account information.

Best not to even have a Maryland EZ Pass. If you use it 2 or less times per month, they charge you a maintenance fee. Delaware doesn't do this to you.

A real EZ-Pass email would be spelled like I spelled it.

Anyone falling for this is really gullible. E/P is linked to your credit card you pay every month! It's not a separate bill! When you sign up it asks you for the card you want it to be charged to!
